General A. This section gives a general description for the data acquisition system. The only line replaceable unit (LRU) for the data acquisition system is the Collins DCU-5010 Data Concentrator Unit (DCU). B. Refer to Figure 1 for a general view of the data acquisition system. Description A. Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) (1) The dual-channel DCU is installed in the tailcone, above the baggage compartment, at approximately TCS 100. It receives analog, discrete, and ARINC 429 bus data from the engines and the airplane systems. The DCU then sends the data through the ARINC 429 busses to the circuits and the LRU's as follows: • Pilot's and the Copilot's Primary Flight Display (PFD) • Pilot's and the Copilot's Multifunction Display (MFD) • Integrated Avionics Processing System (IAPS) • Aircraft Recording System (AReS) Unit • Left and the Right Radio Interface Unit (RIU) • Terrain-Avoidance Warning System (TAWS) • Flight Data Recorder (FDR) • Off-Side (internal) DCU Channel. (2) The DCU supplies the primary interface between the Collins avionics system and the systems of the airplane. It examines the input data to supply the visual display of the system cautions and the warnings to the light crew. It shows this on the light displays and the discrete annunciators when necessary. The DCU also gives engine data, airplane system data, and synoptic data for the light displays. (3) The DCU does the crew alerting system (CAS) logic and concentration of data from many sensors and system units. The DCU outputs engine and airplane sensor data to the MFD's. (4) The DCU receives analog and discrete signals from the systems as follows: Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) Oxygen Battery Temperature Monitor Fuel Indicating Hydraulic Indicating Interior Lighting Power Distribution Oil Indicating Maintenance and Diagnostic Pitot-Static Pressurization Control Digital Audio Environmental Control Checklist Angle-of-Attack System Flight Controls Landing Gear Position and Warning Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) TAWS External Doors Equipment Cooling Central Warning Fuel Distribution Air Data Computer Bleed Air Monitor Full-Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) Circuit Breaker Monitor Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) Engine Fire Extinguishing Rudder Bias Overtemperature Detection Windshield Anti-Icing Satcom Emergency Lighting Fire Detection Antiskid Brake Baggage Compartment Smoke Detection (5) Tail Deicing Ignition On airplanes -000001 thru -000216, the DCU mounted fan is on only when AVIONICS is ON. The fan operates off of channel A, which receives power when AVIONICS is ON. The fan operates off of channel B, which receives power during EMER MODE or if the BATTERY is ON and AVIONICS is off.
