Students will develop a range of advanced skills in harmonization, self-accompaniment, score-reading and transposition On successful completion of this module you will be able to: LO1 Harmonize complex melodies with and without chords paper 84-1213 QSC 13 March 2013 Module Code ACKS LO2 Sing while busking a suitable accompaniment to the chords provide LO3 Read from an open score a passage of music for strings LO4 Perform an accompaniment whilst incorporate a transposed instrumental part LO5 Demonstrate independence in your studies Assessment Mode 1 (Weighted 85 %) You will be assessed through: End-of-session examination You will be required to: harmonise one melody with chords and one melody without chords (each melody c 20-30 bars). Melodies for may be in major or minor keys up to five sharps or flats sing a melodic line (with text) while supporting yourself with a stylish and fluent accompaniment (without doubling the vocal line) realized from given chord symbols. Play four parts (e.gstring quartet) from open score perform a piano part plus up to two transposing lines (e.g. Clarinet in B-flat); the transposing lines may be in A, B-flat, E-flat or F.
