Transmission Line Modelling W.I.R.E. Services utilizes world-class engineering expertise along with LiDAR technology to create "as-built" models of your transmission lines. This gives you the perspective needed for efficient and cost-effective solutions. Transmission line conductors, structures, terrain and aerial obstacles are modelled in either PLS-CADD™ or TL-PRO™ file formats for precision modelling and analysis. With the help of locally supplied information, the asbuilt model is created to match your existing line records. Using accurate LiDAR data, it is the only true way to perform complete line verification of as-built conditions. Using LiDAR data to match the exact catenary shape of wires along each transmission line in your Right of Way (ROW), best reflects the as-built conditions. By extracting various features of the LiDAR data, we create layers for wire catenary, structures, vegetation, bare earth, etc. This process is the key step in developing the accurate model used for further analysis of your transmission line. Additional information such as clearance analysis, road, rail and utility crossings are also available. In addition, TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network) rendering and up to date imagery can be draped over the terrain model to deliver the most informative view of your transmission line. The W.I.R.E. Advantage: • We continually push the software limits, forcing constant development benefitting the entire industry. • Our Engineers and Project Technologists are more than PLS-CADD™ users, they are PLS-CADD™ experts. • We are continually researching new technologies to benefit transmission line modelling using LiDAR data. • Our knowledge and expertise lies in solid engineering practices and advancing LiDAR technology. • Our strong utility background & experience works for you W.I.R.E. Services develops LiDAR data collection and processing specifications with Transmission Line Modelling needs in mind. This, matched with W.I.R.E. Services modelling methodology, provides the most accurate transmission line models available. Some examples of specifications and methodology are: • Data collection ensuring electrical loading and weather conditions remain relatively constant • High frequency digital waveform lasers resulting in multiple returns per pulse and hits on all wires (even small ones). • LiDAR points for each wire are separated into unique feature codes, which allow for easy graphical sagging. • Data Thinning, if applicable, ensuring file sizes are manageable.
