The day and time of the first class meeting during the week determine the date and time for each exam. For example, a class which normally meets on MWF 10:1011:00 a.m. has been assigned an exam time of 10:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. A class that meets MW 10:40 a.m.-12:30 p.m. will also have an exam time of 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. Evening classes are placed in four groups according to the day and time of the first class meeting each week. Classes which meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings will have exams from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17; classes which meet on Thursday evenings only will have their exams from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12. Classes that meet on Monday evenings will have their final on Monday, May 16 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Classes that meet on Wednesday evenings will have their final on Wednesday, May 18 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Students and instructors should note that Senate Rule 05.24(s) states: “Examinations at the end of each semester may be given in any course, but all such examinations must be scheduled … Practical examinations covering laboratory work may be given during the last five days of classes preceding the Monday May 16 MWF 8:10-9 COMMON EXAM MWF 9:10-10 MWF 12:10-1 M 5:10-9 Tuesday May 17 TR 9:40-11 COMMON EXAM TR 11:10-12:30 COMMON EXAM T 5:10-9 Wednesday May 18 COMMON EXAM MWF 10:10-11 TR 3:40-5 MWF 1:10-2 W 5:10-9 examination period … These exceptions apart, no announced oral or written test may be given during the last five days of classes preceding the examination period.” The last day to give an examination before finals is Monday, May 2. Final "Common" Exams A multiple-section course that has chosen to give a "common" final exam will be assigned to a common exam block and instructors will notify students of the time of the exam. Students who are scheduled for two common exams at the same time should check with their instructors to see which exam has priority. Three Exams in One Day A student scheduled for more than two exams in one day may request the instructor to reschedule the middle exam. Students who need to have an exam rescheduled should make arrangements as early in the semester as possible, but in no case later than one week prior to the exam(s). If the student's request is unsuccessful, the student's college dean will arrange for the rescheduling of exams.
