The new aluminum quad entry step assemblies fasten to the RV sidewall, rear wall, exterior slide-out wall or over a wheel well, allowing manufacturers to create more versatile and customized RV floor plans. NOTE: The sidewall of the RV MUST have sufficient backing material for securing the Sure Step™ assembly. Preparation Tools Required - Tape measure - #10 x 1" self-tapping screws (x12) (OEM supplied) - Screw gun (with appropriate fastening bit) Measurements (Fig. 1) 1. 2. 3. Measure the entry door where the steps will be installed to determine which step assembly will be needed. Doors less than 25" wide can use 325669 (27" assembly). Doors up to 28" wide can use 354008 (30" assembly). This product cannot be used on doors wider than 28". Find the horizontal center of the entry door. When attaching the step assembly to the sidewall, it should be centered horizontally under the entry door. Measure down from the bottom of the entry door 8 inches. The top of the top step of the assembly should be aligned with this mark when the steps are extended. If not already completed, complete the Measurements section on the previous page to ensure the Sure Step™ assembly can and will be installed properly. Also ensure that sufficient backer is in place in the sidewall where the mounting arms will be attached. Align the Sure Step™ assembly as described in the Measurements section on the previous page. NOTE: Ensure that the steps are level with the RV before fully attaching the mounting arms to the sidewall. 3. Screw the left-hand mounting arm to the sidewall with one #10 x 1" self-tapping screw in the upper left mounting hole. Only tighten the screw until snug. This will allow for any necessary adjustments to align the Sure Step™ assembly with the unit. 4. Once the assembly is aligned with the unit, screw the right-hand mounting arm to the sidewall using one #10 x 1" self-tapping screw. 5. Check the alignment of the steps. If necessary, remove the screw from the mounting arm and realign. 6. Once the alignment is assured, fill the rest of the screw holes (10x) with #10 x 1" self-tapping screws. Ensure all screws are tightened (Figs. 2 and 3). Fig. 2 Fig. 3 Mounting Arm #10 x 1" Self-Tapping Screws (x12) Mounting Arm #10 x 1" Self -Tapping Screws (x12) NOTE: Steps shown unfolded for clarity. Unlatched Lower Leg Once lower legs are released from the bottom step, unlatch the step assembly at the top of the mounting arms by loosening the locking knob, and swinging the latch up and around (Figs. 6 and 7). There is one latch on each side of the assembly. Fig. 6 Fig. 7 Latch Locking Knob Mounting Arm Locking Knob Mounting Arm Latch Fig. 8 3. Unfold the step assembly until the footpads of the lower legs touch the ground (Fig. 8). NOTE: When fully unfolded, the steps should be level with the RV. If the steps are not level, follow the instructions on the next page for adjusting the lower legs. Foot Pad Rev: 04.28.2015 Page 5 Ground Sure Step™ OEM Install Manual 4. Once the steps are unfolded and in place, turn the keyed cam lock on the upper right-hand mounting arm until the cam is in the horizontal position (Figs. 9 and 10). This is a safety feature that ensures the steps cannot be folded up and latched into place, potentially trapping a person inside the RV. Fig. 9 Fig. 10 Keyed Cam Lock 5. Keyed Cam Lock To fold the steps back into the travel position, reverse the previous steps. Ensure both latches are engaged and that both locking knobs are tightened prior to moving the RV. Adjusting Lower Legs (Fig. 11) 1. 2. 3. 4. To adjust the height of the lower leg, remove the cotter pin from the adjustment pin. Remove the adjustment pin from the lower leg assembly. Adjust the height of the leg up or down as needed. Replace the adjustment pin into the lower leg assembly and secure it with the cotter pin.
