What is EPIC?
Electronic Purchasing In Collaboration is a consortium
of New Zealand libraries managed through the National
Library of New Zealand that have joined together to buy
collective access to a wide range of e-resources to make
available to New Zealanders through libraries and schools.
How to set up your own
access to EPIC
Schools can set up their own direct access to individual
EPIC e-resources as well as to specific content within the
e-resources.
Through EPIC, The Ministry of Education has paid
subscriptions on behalf of all registered New Zealand
schools to access a range of quality, educational
e-resources.
Examples of where direct links can be set up include;
through your school’s library management system (LMS),
embedded in topic/curriculum pages on your intranet or
internet pages, through content curation tools or bookmarked lesson plans.
Who can access EPIC?
Information on how to do this can be found at
The terms and conditions of use
for the Ministry of Education funded subscription
through EPIC enable access to all staff and students of New
Zealand schools for personal use or educational
purposes in connection with the educational activities of
the school.
For registration queries, email: epic@epic.org.nz
How to access EPIC
All schools that are registered to access EPIC are provided
with an EPIC login which is unique to their school. These
logins can be used by all staff and students from the
school using any web enabled device, anywhere, to access
the EPIC resources from the e-resource links at
epic.org.nz/schools or www.tki.org/epic.
Staff and students from schools that are networked
through the Network For Learning (N4L) managed network
are able to access the EPIC resources from within their
school network directly (without the use of their school
EPIC login) by using the e-resource links at
epic.org.nz/schools.
Go to map.n4l.co.nz to find out if your school is
networked through the N4L managed network.
