In2017,wewillcelebratethe150thanniversaryofCanada’sconfederationandOttawawill
betheepicentreofnationalcelebrations!Residents,Canadiansfromalloverthecountry,
andtouristswillexperienceOttawalikeneverbeforeandcelebrateCanada’s150thlike
nowhereelse.
Ottawa2017,incollaborationwithitsLeadPartnerCIBC,willdeliver12monthsofbold
events,immersiveexperiences,andall-outcelebrations,complementarytofederal
governmentplansandtorecurringannualfestivals,events,andattractionsinCanada’s
capital.InadditiontoOttawa2017’sBIGsignatureevents,Ottawawillbeanimatedby
communitycelebrationsorganizedatthelocallevelacrossthecity.We’regearingupfora
fantasticyear!
Ignite150isaseriesof17epicstunts,gatherings,andhappeningsthatwillturbo-chargethe
capitalallyearlongin2017.Ottawa2017islookingforunique,crazy,spectacular,and
ephemeraleventstobepresentedinsurprisingandunusuallocationsacrossOttawa.
Ignite150willpushforcommunityandvisionarycollaboration.Itwillcelebrateourcreative
genius,passion,inventiveness,quirkiness,andoffbeatsenseofhumour.Thinksight,smell,
sound,taste,touch.Thinkvisualart,music,dance,mediaart,literature,food,technology,
physicalactivity.Nowcombinethemtocreateonce-in-a-lifetimeexperiencesthatstretch
expectations:agourmetdinnerpreparedbyoneofourtoplocalchefsservedoverlooking
theheartofthecapital180feetupintheair,asunsetyogasessiononabargeontheRideau
Canalaccompaniedbyaliveorchestra,oraspectacularmovieprojectiononarooftop

Productionandlogistics
Producersareresponsibleforallcostsassociatedwithlaunchingtheirprojectorevent,over
andaboveanyamountreceivedfromOttawa2017.Weencourageapplicantstodevelop
additionalfinancialandthematicpartnershipstoenhancetheirproject;projectscaninclude
ticketsales,whichwillbemanagedbyOttawa2017.
Projectsmustbecreatedandexecutedinstrictcompliancewiththerequirementsofthe
OccupationalHealthandSafetyAct,andallotherapplicablelegislation.Duringproject
assessment,Ottawa2017mayidentifymunicipaldepartmentsorexternalregulating
agenciesthatrequirefurtherapprovalsforthesafeandlegalexecutionofprojects.These
mayinclude,butarenotlimitedto,CityofOttawaEventCentral,CityofOttawaPolice
Services,CityofOttawaFireDepartment,PublicHealthauthority,andElectricalSafety
authority.
Inallcases,itistheresponsibilityoftheprojectproducertoensurethattheyhavethe
appropriatepermissionsand/orpermitsinplacetobuildandexecutetheproject.Ottawa
2017isavailabletoassistwithnavigatingtheserequirements.
AllmarketingandotherpromotionalmaterialsmustbeavailableinEnglishandFrench,
respectingthelinguisticdualityofOttawa.Eventsshouldbepresentedinbilingualformat
unlessjustifiedbyspecialcircumstances.Materialsdistributedateventsmustalsobe
providedinbothEnglishandFrench.
Ottawa2017hasfullauthoritytocanceltheeventifitdoesnotrespectthetermsofthe
contract,and/orifthereareconcernsaboutpublicsafety.
Grants,sponsorships,andpartnerships
Ottawa2017hascorporatesponsorsthatwillbeidentifiedinpromotionalmaterialsandon
siteforallIgnite150events.Forthisreason,wewillnotbeabletoaccommodateadditional
sponsors.However,eventproducersareencouragedtoseekpartnersandotherfunding
opportunitiesorsupportersfortheirproject.Ifaprojectrequiresanofficial
acknowledgementfromOttawa2017,applicantsshouldcontacttheOttawa2017Bureau
