= Safety instructions:
(Information for the protection of persons)
Set-up and installation
Please note that the calorifier may only be set up, connected and commissioned by an authorised specialist
company.
The heating water must also be drained completely on
the heating side.
Only an authorised specialist company may drain the tank
and the heating system, take the heating system out of
operation or put it back into operation.
Modifications
Modifications to the calorifier, to the water and heating
connections or to the electrical connections may only be
carried out by trained technicians.
The safety valve and the exhaust line must not be modified in any way.
Commissioning
=Precautions:
(instructions for the protection of the hot water
system)
Care and maintenance
Interior
Regular cleaning and desludging of the calorifier is necessary for reasons of hygiene and cost-effectiveness.
The cleaning intervals will depend on the water quality,
the operating temperature and the hot water consumption.
Cleaning work may only be performed by the Hoval customer service or an authorised specialist company.
We recommend that you conclude a maintenance contract
with Hoval customer service or an authorised specialist
company.
Cleaning the casing
Cleaning is best performed with a cloth moistened with a
soap solution.
Taking out of operation / frost protection
If there is a frost hazard, the calorifier must be kept in
operation.
If it is taken out of operation, the calorifier must be completely drained.
Hot water may emerge during draining!
Where there is a frost hazard, it is also important to note
that not only the water in the calorifier and in the hot water
pipes can freeze, but also that in the cold water pipes and
the armatures.
For this reason, it is advisable to drain all pipes and armatures containing water.
2
Initial commissioning is carried out by the installation
technician.
The first time the water is heated and where the system
has been switched off for longer periods, hot water and
the full calorifier output only become available after expiry
of the heating-up time.
While the water is being heated, some water will emerge
from the exhaust line of the tank safety valve. This is normal
and no cause for concern.
The exhaust line of the safety valve must remain
open at all times.
Temperature setting
For reasons of economy and hygiene, we recommend that
the hot water temperature is set to 60°C.
A hot water temperature of 60°C prevents the formation
of legionellae and ensures maximum cost effectiveness in
line with the Energy Ordinance.
Where the water contains high levels of calcium carbonate
(hard water), the formation of limescale in the tank and
the overall hot water installation and armatures is delayed.
In addition, there is a danger of scalding at higher
hot water temperatures.
The temperature is normally set at the boiler control panel.
The temperature can also be set via an adjustable thermostat installed on the calorifier (available as an accessory).
If the calorifier is equipped with an electrical heating inset,
the temperature is set via the thermostat dial of the electrical heating inset.
In the case of combined systems, e.g. solar plants, the
temperature can also be set via other control devices.
