Making the right decisions – with confidence The SPPA-M3000 Energy Management Suite provides the right information, allowing precise detection and analysis for you to make the right decisions. Simple, standardized and consistent – along the entire workflow. Answers for energy. Energy Management Suite SPPA-M3000 The right information at the right time – for power generation professionals In power plants most of the data required for making sound decisions is basically available. However, there is frequently a lack of aggregated and formatted real-time information precisely when it is needed to make the right decisions quickly: production costs based on actual fuel flow, online availability and market trends, early warnings, information regarding necessary maintenance measures and plant availability and so on. The Energy Management Suite serves to supply this kind of information straight to the relevant workstation – on screen, via SMS, e-mail or through acoustic alarms. The information is incorporated in the specific workflow and adequately prepared. Everyone who receives the information has the opportunity to use it to be quicker, better and more successful. With the information management system for the energy industry, the Energy Management Suite SPPA-M3000, it really is that simple. Customers may value the Energy Management Suite from a number of different perspectives: 2 Maintenance Manager Chief Information Officer Power Plant Manager “Our objective is to perform maintenance while minimizing impact on generating capacity. One way of leveraging performance is to take advantage of the information management which the Energy Management Suite provides.” Erich Wex, Director Product Management Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical, Siemens Energy “The Energy Management Suite does not make decisions for you. However, it can give you extra confidence and ensures consistent implementation after you have made your decision. It provides real-time information regarding deviations from the operating point or imminent faults, current production costs and system availability at any given time. When combined with your experience as a plant operator, information such as this can give you a decisive advantage in the battle to gain a competitive edge. We developed the Energy Management Suite, an information management system designed specially for use in power plants, for this very reason. The solution is based upon our decades of experience in constructing and operating 4 power plants as well as our profound knowledge in the field of IT. The ability to separate important data from less important data,to organize this data effectively, and to replicate the entire specific workflow of power generation is particularly important here. Siemens is a pioneer in the field of information management systems. We have shown that we can realize even the most demanding of projects in a way which benefits our customers. This know-how makes us the partner of choice for many operators all over the world and can give you, as the user, the confidence to make the right decision.” All the data along a predefined workflow The Energy Management Suite integrates all the information along the operating processes and replicates the workflows of power generation. It thus replaces the stringing together of the different input and documentation options with a standard tool and makes the information available to all users in a role-based manner, whenever and wherever it is required in the workflow. Here is a typical example: 1. The “Early Warning” module provides the diagnostics experts with a fleetwide overview of all potential problems in specific power plant components. 1 2. After thoroughly analyzing the cause the diagnostics expert can open a fault report without taking any intermediate steps in the “Plant Management” module. 2 3 3. The maintenance planner can then immediately identify the right predefined measures using the maintenance strategy database of the “Plant Management” module in order to resolve the problem. 4. While the execution of the individual measures is accompanied at this point by the maintenance team in the “Plant Management” module, power plant management (e.g. the maintenance manager) readily gets an overview of the status of all measures falling within his area of responsibility in the “Business Performance Monitoring” module. SPPA-M3000 can be integrated into the existing IT landscape. If a portal already exists, then it can be hooked in. The user-friendly UI enables easy, quick and intuitive navigation to the information required. 4 Proper arrangement of data describing plant conditions transforms it into important infor- mation. Proper arrangement of data describing plant conditions transforms it into important information. Data from a wide range of different systems (e.g. distributed control, monitoring and ERP systems) are displayed in a standardized form. 9 The modules The Energy Management Suite is an exceptionally versatile system. Starting with a central process database which collects, compresses and processes the information obtained from all power plant subsystems in real time, its modules can be combined and expanded as required. This gives you, as the user, the option of expanding the system in a step-by-step manner. The modules are tailored to one another, complement each other and multiply the quality of the information. Another feature of the system is its integration capabilities. Existing applications in the power plant can be integrated and therefore become part of the overall system. The information is output in a role-based manner and each person involved receives the information quickly and in the correct form – at the right time. Plant Management provides specialized solutions for operational work processes and tasks within power plants Planning, execution and documentation of corrective and preventive maintenance measures Determination and implementation of optimum maintenance strategy by defining failure modes and analyzing the impact of failures (RCM and FMEA) Occupational and operational safety measures including permit to work and approval processes for tagouts, fire protection, etc. Spare parts management including material requirements for work orders, material purchasing and stockkeeping Shift planning and shift logging, distribution of shift instructions and execution control of routine shift tasks Seamless integration of distributed control systems (DCS), document management systems (DMS) and commercial applications (e.g. ERP) Plant Management is available as a .net application or on the SAP Netweaver platform. Customer benefits: Lower costs through seamless integration of all maintenance-related processes Greater safety for personnel and plant Higher availability through minimization of outage risk Savings on maintenance costs through optimized maintenance strategies Early Warning collates the relevant information from a large number of systems in the power plant. Based on this data it visualizes deviations from specified conditions and supports the user when analyzing these deviations as alarms requiring countermeasures to be performed by the maintenance department, or as alarms not indicating off-normal plant behavior. Trends can be entered in a monitoring list and monitored until a final decision is taken. If necessary, a maintenance measure can be initiated. This solution thus offers the platform for a Remote Diagnostic Center (RDC), in which a team of experienced experts analyze incipient problems for an entire fleet. Customer benefits: Reduction of unscheduled outages through early detection of imminent problems Reduction of maintenance costs through well-founded advance diagnostics Enhancement of availability and efficiency of the entire fleet through RDC 5 The Energy Management Suite Einfach, einheitlich und durchgängig.
