PowerPack 1500

The PS Audio PowerPack 1500 is a

1500va line interactive pure sine wave UPS. The PowerPack can be used as a standalone battery backup system or in conjunction with the PowerPlay IPC9000 , IPC8000 network connected power centers or any PS Audio power products such as the Power Plant Premier, the Quintet or Duet power centers.

A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) maintains power during short black-outs or brown-outs preventing lengthy restarts for equipment.

The benefits of a UPS are many, including: DVR's (Digital Video Recorders) can continue to record, projectors can avoid costly damage to their lamps and your sensitive high-end audio system won't suddenly lose power and all its settings. This is a much safer route to take when protecting and improving your audio system.

Designed as an intelligent UPS

First and foremost, the PowerPack 1500 is a great pure sine wave battery backup system for your Power Plant Premier or

PS Audio powered high-end system. Nothing makes more sense than to make sure your system stays protected and operating even if the power fails. In the event of a power failure, the PowerPack 1500 kicks in with its pure sine ewave power that will feed your system either directly, or through one of our power centers or AC regenerators like the Power

Plant Premier.

The PowerPack is also designed to work in concert with either a PowerPlay IPC9000 or IPC8000 power conditioner.

When connected to either the 8000 or 9000 PC, the PowerPack communicates its status to the PowerPlay unit and the

PowerPlay unit relays that information over the internet to the PowerPlay GlobalNet™ servers.

PowerPlays and PowerPacks are web enabled and allow anyone anywhere in the world to control an entire system over the

Internet. The PowerPack accomlishes this in conjunction with PowerPlay, through the use of Cloud Computing .

This sophisticated level of communication and control permits the user, dealer or installer to know whenever the

PowerPack is active, its battery status, as well as assign importance levels to connected equipment.

For example, it is probably critical to maintain outside communication through a modem or router in the event of a power outage; but not as important for a subwoofer to remain powered. With a PowerPlay connected to a PowerPack UPS you can assign any zone an importance level that will permit that zone to shut down if the battery of the UPS falls below a certain level, thus protecting the system for hours at a time in the event of a power outage.

Email and text message alerts

Connected as a system, the PowerPack will communicate with the PowerPlay unit to send an email or text alert to your dealer or the user in the event its batteries require replacement, thus avoiding the potential for unexpected failure of the battery backup system right when you need it.

Hot swappable batteries

In the event batteries need to be replaced, it can be done in a matter of moments. Remove the PowerPack's front panel by simply pulling it off while it is still in the rack. With two screws you access the protective battery drawer, pull the batteries out while the PowerPack remains in operation and replace with fresh batteries.

The PowerPack provides voltage regulation

Voltage Regulation (keeping voltage within nominal operating ranges) prevents equipment lock-ups due to power sags and keeps equipment from heating up (power supplies require more current when voltage is low).

The PowerPack is able to tolerate continuous under voltage brownouts and overvoltage surges without consuming the limited reserve battery power. It instead compensates by auto-selecting different power taps on the internal autotransformer.

The PowerPack 1500 can compensate for AC voltages from 90v to 140v for 120v power, 180v to 280v for 230v power and then switch to battery if the voltage goes much higher or lower than this range.

Pure sine waves

The PowerPack produces pure sine waves when it is on battery backup power. This ensures that connected equipment suffers no damage during a power outage and receive the same pure AC as when they are connected directly to the wall.

Many low cost UPS battery backup system produce high-distortion quasi-sine waves that can damage sensitive AV equipment.

1500va gives plenty of power

1500va provides plenty of power for most home theater systems. This rating, which can be maintained under battery power for 10 to 25 minutes, depending on the load, can be greatly extended by the intelligent control of a mating

PowerPlay PC.

In fact, properly setup, the PowerPack can keep a minimum number of critical components operating for quite some time, well within the boundaries of a normal brown-out or black-out which typically last only a few minutes.

PowerPack plus PowerPlay equals control and safety

With both the PowerPack UPS and either model of the PowerPlay power conditioner working together, your home theater or home music system is protected from damage even in the event of a serious strike or power outage. Why risk the investment in your system, when these two products are available right now.
