They will be able to apply specialised skills in the creation and management of costumes, work Purpose collaboratively within a variety of performance based contexts as employees or independent contractors Statement This qualification aims to enhance the creation and delivery of high quality screen and live performance events in Aotearoa New Zealand Graduates will contribute to the cultural, social and economic life of Aotearoa New Zealand Conditions Programmes leading to this qualification must: Include applied practical experience in a range of realistic industry settings in order to meet the graduate profile outcomes (recommended minimum of 200 hours). Reflect current industry best practice and comply with industry guidelines (where available) and relevant legislation. Ensure teaching practice includes engagement with industry entities, organisations and/or practitioners. Include a high level of communication, written and oral skills. Ensure that graduates incorporate into professional practice the cultural values and perspectives of Aotearoa New Zealand. GPO1 Apply specialised technical and theoretical knowledge in the making of costumes. (120 credits) Programmes must include: Sewing and finishing of costume elements by hand and by machine Dyeing, printing and finishing of textiles Patternmaking GPO2 Interpret costume designs, and communicate effectively with collaborators. (40 credits) Programmes must include: A minimum of two fully realised production opportunities History of Costume GPO3 Analyse, plan and manage production costume requirements and be accountable for department budgets. (40 credits) Programmes must include: Principles of costume design A minimum of two fully realised production costume management opportunities Tax obligations and contract law relating to being an employee or independent contractor GPO4 Ensure operational safety legislation and reflect current industry best practice. (10 credits) Programmes must include: Health and safety legislation and regulations Hazard identification and management Risk management GPO5 Develop and adapt professional practice to accommodate new approaches and technologies within the screen, live performance and events industries.
