Improving the world through engineering
Future climate 2
– the challenge continues.
Since 2008, engineering organisations from all over the world have been working together on developing
national low-carbon strategies. This biennial conference will communicate the results of this project, called
Future Climate Engineering Solutions. The Future Climate network will compare mitigation priorities and
showcase the sustainable energy technologies that each participating nation is choosing in its response to
emissions reduction goals and resource constraints.
Conference delegates will discuss these technologies, their effect on society, economics and the environment,
and the possible pathways to successful deployment. This will include their positive impact on green jobs and on
resource efficiency, both of which contribute substantially to preserving or restoring sustainability.
The conference aims to develop joint recommendations from the engineering community that will contribute
to the future climate debate in the period up to UNFCCC’s 2011 COP17 meeting in Durban, South Africa,
where the next steps towards a global agreement on emissions reduction will be taken.
Book your place now to gain an international perspective on technologies, low-carbon pathways and
potential markets. Benchmark what you are doing against techniques and best practice from around the
world. Find out or confirm what opportunities there are for you or your technology.
Who should attend:
Technical advantages:
• Engineers who want to learn the latest
international thinking on delivering the low carbon
agenda and discuss technologies and techniques
with colleagues from around the world
• Financiers who want to see the likely
international direction, hear technical realities
and assess business opportunities
• Policymakers, who need to understand what is
really possible, see the different approaches from
across the world and assess their effectiveness in
achieving carbon reduction
• Politicians, civil servants and Government employees
who need to know the international context for their
negotiations at UNFCCC COP17 and beyond
• Policymakers, opinion formers and a diverse
grouping of international engineers brought
together in a single event
• Compare and contrast national approaches and
practical thinking on a global issue which is
critical to the future well-being of human society
• Valuable transfer of engineering knowledge and
best practice experience made available to allow
the enhanced development of local solutions to a
worldwide challenge
• For policymakers, it will give a broad quantifiable
perspective on the effectiveness of the different
regulatory tools based on insights into what is
really possible from engineering
