This data contains both the detection state and the stability of detection (sufficient detection margin). It is possible, therefore, to determine whether the sensor is working too close to its detection threshold, for example due to window contamination. Diagnosis: 2 The operating state of the sensor is checked. In case of wire break, under-voltage, disturbances on the receiver, sensor malfunction or installation of the wrong sensor, information is provided directly through IO-Link to enable fast repair, maintenance and replacement. Sensitivity and teach: 3 The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted remotely by changing the threshold. Alternatively, the teach function can be used to adapt the threshold to the application. Calibrated sensing ranges ensure easy sensor replacement by uploading the existing sensitivity to the replacement sensor. Light-on/Dark-on selection: 4 The output switching mode can be selected as light-on or dark-on. A single sensor type is configurable for the various needs of an application. This helps reduce the number of different sensor types required in stock. Switching timer: 5 The timing of output switching can be configured. Depending on the needs of an application, output switching can be delayed or the duration stretched. 6 3 different modes are selectable depending on the application needs: “Normal”, “Fast” and “Fine”. “Normal” mode is a good balance of speed and precision. In “Fast” mode, speed is higher and in “Fine” mode precision is higher. Sensor mode: Sequence selection: 7 For cross-talk immunity with through-beam sensors, up to 9 different emitting sequences can be selected to pair the emitter with the receiver. Detection counter: 8 Detection events are counted. By registering the number of detections, it is possible to calculate the speed or number of parts. The counter can be reset by means of a unique IO-Link message. Temperature: 9 The internal temperature of the sensor is measured continuously, which provides an indication about the ambient temperature in the application. Designed for a sensor current supply up to 100 mA, the new sensor tester works perfectly even with complex sensor types. It is ideal for checking inductive, capacitive, photoelectric or ultrasonic sensors with all kinds of outputs (PNP, NPN, N.O., N.C. or push-pull) and includes automatic PNP/NPN recognition. For checking inductive sensors, a built-in steel target (non-standardized) is also provided. Test results are indicated both visually by LED and audibly by an acoustic signal. The new tester has been fitted with a micro-USB interface that allows recharging through any universal mobile phone charger. A 9 V LiPo battery is also included. With a storage capacity of 600 mAh, this battery supports over 2 hours of continuous use at 50 mA. Battery state is indicated by LED. Contrinex is China’s premier supplier of high precision, Swiss-quality, ASIC-based industrial sensors. With the inauguration of a new, wholly owned head office in Shanghai, the global sensor technology group enters a new phase of reinforcing and expanding its presence in the Chinese market. As Mrs. Heimlicher, CEO of the Contrinex Group, explains: “China is a dynamic market at the forefront of automation innovation and machine building. Contrinex has therefore decided to provide high-level solutions through its own highly trained technical sales team.” The original joint venture, which dates from 2003, is being wound down and a new large-scale, state-of-the-art production facility has been built in Suzhou. Contrinex’s strict quality standards and high levels of scrutiny at all stages of production will optimize workplace efficiency and safety while ensuring customer satisfaction. 32 The new organizational structure will bring further advantages for customers. This is particularly important for customers in China, who often require customized sensors with very exact technical specifications.” WWW.CONTRINEX.COM 33 34 Contrinex inaugurates new high-tech production site in Sri Lanka On 25th August 2015, Contrinex celebrated the official opening of its new, hightech production site in Sri Lanka. Mrs. Annette Heimlicher, CEO of the Contrinex Group, welcomed many international guests and distinguished speakers, including Mr Kurt Meier, Deputy Head of Mission at Embassy of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Mr Upul Jayasuriya, Chairman of Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka and Mrs Renuka Weerakone, Executive Director of Investment Promotion at BOI. The founder and President of the Contrinex Group, Mr. Peter Heimlicher, spoke of the strategic importance of production in Sri Lanka. Located at the halfway point of a major trade route between Asia and Europe, the country offers significant logistical advantages for a global company. In addition, a Free Trade Agreement with India – and a further planned FTA with China – provide important commercial benefits. Contrinex manufactures in Sri Lanka for the global market according to strict Swiss quality standards. Advanced design and production techniques are combined with high levels of quality control. The new production site comprises manufacturing and office space with a total area of 1500 m2 and employs 100 staff. Final production capacity will be 18,000 to 20,000 pieces a week. After the ribbon had been cut and the factory declared officially open, guests were invited on a guided tour of the plant, including state-of-the-art production and testing facilities.
