HIGH TEMPERATURE: ULTRA-LONG LIFETIME, silicone-free
The Contrinex High Temperature range is well known for excellent resistance up to +230°C
(+446°F). Now a new series of sensors offers by far the best temperature stability of any
devices with internal electronics. Available in sizes M8 to M30, the new series provides
outstanding reliability and long sensor life in temperature cycles from -25°C to +180°C
or +140°C for M8 size (-13°F to +356°F or +284°F for M8 size).
With operating distances from 2 to 10 mm, these sensors are suitable not only for high
precision applications, but also applications with greater tolerances and distances.

Washdown: ASIC SENSORS with IP 69K protection and io-link
The new Classics Washdown inductive sensor with IP 69K protection packs an outstanding
price-performance ratio into an M12 housing. A Contrinex ASIC ensures high switching
accuracy and long sensor life in the challenging environment of strictly hygienic production. Like all sensors in the Contrinex Washdown range, the new Classics types are IOLink-enabled in the PNP version. Housing materials are food grade, combining stainless
steel (V4A) with a plastic, FDA-compliant sensing face (PPS).
The IO-link interface of Classics Washdown devices not only allows the reading of sensor
data, such as the number of switching events, chip temperature, etc., but also the modification of certain parameters, such as switching from NO to NC function or programming
an ON or OFF delay.
Washdown sensors are also available in extremely robust Full Inox types:

IO-Link functionalities with m18 series
Data monitoring:

Detection status is monitored and continuously transmitted through IO-Link process data. This data contains both the detection state and the stability of detection (sufficient
detection margin). It is possible, therefore, to determine whether the sensor is working too close to its detection threshold, for example due to window contamination.
Diagnosis:

The operating state of the sensor is checked. In case of wire break, under-voltage, disturbances on the receiver, sensor malfunction or installation of the wrong sensor, information is provided directly through IO-Link to enable fast repair, maintenance and replacement.
Sensitivity and teach:

The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted remotely by changing the threshold. Alternatively, the teach function can be used to adapt the threshold to the application. Calibrated sensing ranges ensure easy sensor replacement by uploading the existing sensitivity to the replacement sensor.
Light-on/Dark-on selection:

The output switching mode can be selected as light-on or dark-on. A single sensor type is configurable for the various needs of an application. This helps reduce the
number of different sensor types required in stock.
Switching timer:

The timing of output switching can be configured. Depending on the needs of an application, output switching can be delayed or the duration stretched.

3 different modes are selectable depending on the application needs: “Normal”, “Fast” and “Fine”. “Normal” mode is a good balance of speed and precision. In “Fast”
mode, speed is higher and in “Fine” mode precision is higher.

For cross-talk immunity with through-beam sensors, up to 9 different emitting sequences can be selected to pair the emitter with the receiver.
Detection counter:

Detection events are counted. By registering the number of detections, it is possible to calculate the speed or number of parts. The counter can be reset by means of
a unique IO-Link message.
Temperature:

The internal temperature of the sensor is measured continuously, which provides an indication about the ambient temperature in the application. Moreover, the maximum
temperature measured is saved for diagnosis and preventive maintenance purposes.

Intelligent sensors are the fundamental building blocks of modern smart factories. They
enable sensor-supported production resources (machines, robots, etc.) to configure,

Strong, slim light curtains for protection where space is limited
Faster response time for shorter overall safety distance
Manufactured with robust aluminum housings, the new Safetinex Slim units are wellsuited to the production environment and will withstand shocks and vibrations. Industrystandard PNP configuration allows connection to the controller via an integral 5-pin M12
cable connector. The integrated alignment LED provides easy installation and permanent
autocontrol ensures reliable operation of the light curtain.
With a faster response time of just 10 ms, the new Safety relay
ensures shorter overall safety distances for Contrinex Type 2 and
Type 4 devices. Suitable for use with a light curtain or access control
barrier, the relay may equally well be connected to an emergencystop button or door monitoring system. Easy restart-mode selection
(auto/manual) is an additional feature of the new relay.
Safetinex Slim devices offer good optoelectronic performance with a much smaller footprint (26 mm x 26 mm) than standard size light curtains (42 mm x 48 mm). Moreover, the
protective height of these devices is equal to their length, eliminating any blind zone or
loss of resolution, even when mounted in combination. Improved workplace ergonomics
can therefore be combined with optimum operator protection.

For ease of integration in control systems, Contrinex now offers its high-frequency read/
write modules (RWMs) in versions with an IO-Link interface. Available in sizes M18 and
M30, the new RWMs can operate either as IO-Link devices or as stand-alone SIOs (binary
switching). In the latter case, tag presence detection or data block comparison is enabled
by a conditional output switch.

Sensor tester with rechargeable battery for field
checks and demonstrations
Whatever the sensor type, for fast field checks and demonstrations the new Contrinex sensor
tester is an essential addition to any toolbox.
Designed for a sensor current supply up to 100 mA, the new sensor tester works perfectly even
with complex sensor types. It is ideal for checking inductive, capacitive, photoelectric or ultrasonic
sensors with all kinds of outputs (PNP, NPN, N.O., N.C. or push-pull) and includes automatic
PNP/NPN recognition. For checking inductive sensors, a built-in steel target (non-standardized)
is also provided. Test results are indicated both visually by LED and audibly by an acoustic signal.
The new tester has been fitted with a micro-USB interface that allows recharging through any
universal mobile phone charger. A 9 V LiPo battery is also included. With a storage capacity of
600 mAh, this battery supports over 2 hours of continuous use at 50 mA. Battery state is indicated
by LED. The automatic switch-off time of 120 seconds is relatively long and allows ample time
for teaching and configuration. Additional batteries are also available.

Expansion in China
Contrinex opens new national head office and production site in China
Swiss sensor technology group Contrinex is set to boost activities in China with a new
national head office in Shanghai and a new state-of-the-art production site in Suzhou.
Contrinex is China’s premier supplier of high precision, Swiss-quality, ASIC-based industrial sensors. With the inauguration of a new, wholly owned head office in Shanghai,
the global sensor technology group enters a new phase of reinforcing and expanding its
presence in the Chinese market. As Mrs. Heimlicher, CEO of the Contrinex Group, explains: “China is a dynamic market at the forefront of automation innovation and machine
building. Contrinex has therefore decided to provide high-level solutions through its own
highly trained technical sales team.”
The original joint venture, which dates from 2003, is being wound
down and a new large-scale, state-of-the-art production facility has
been built in Suzhou. Contrinex’s strict quality standards and high
levels of scrutiny at all stages of production will optimize workplace
efficiency and safety while ensuring customer satisfaction.

The new organizational structure will bring further advantages for customers.
Contrinex’s full portfolio of highly precise ASIC-based inductive and photoelectric sensors, as well as safety light curtains, will immediately be available for
distribution and purchase in China. In addition, according to Mrs. Heimlicher: “A
direct line between our Swiss R&D team and the new production facility in China
will enable us to provide specific solutions in a short time. This is particularly
important for customers in China, who often require customized sensors with
very exact technical specifications.”

Contrinex inaugurates new high-tech production site in Sri Lanka
On 25th August 2015, Contrinex celebrated the official opening of its new, hightech production site in Sri Lanka.
Mrs. Annette Heimlicher, CEO of the Contrinex Group, welcomed many international guests and distinguished speakers, including Mr Kurt Meier, Deputy
Head of Mission at Embassy of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Mr Upul
Jayasuriya, Chairman of Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka and Mrs Renuka
Weerakone, Executive Director of Investment Promotion at BOI.
The founder and President of the Contrinex Group, Mr. Peter Heimlicher, spoke
of the strategic importance of production in Sri Lanka.
Located at the halfway point of a major trade route between Asia and Europe,
the country offers significant logistical advantages for a global company. In
addition, a Free Trade Agreement with India – and a further planned FTA with
China – provide important commercial benefits.
Contrinex manufactures in Sri Lanka for the global market according to strict
Swiss quality standards. Advanced design and production techniques are combined with high levels of quality control. As a result, this investment, with its
particular emphasis on corporate social responsibility, has been welcomed by
government authorities.
The new production site comprises manufacturing and office space with a total
area of 1500 m2 and employs 100 staff. Final production capacity will be 18,000
to 20,000 pieces a week.
After the ribbon had been cut and the factory declared officially open, guests
were invited on a guided tour of the plant, including state-of-the-art production
and testing facilities.
With its many advantages, the new Sri Lankan production site is set to play a
crucial role in the ongoing growth strategy of the Contrinex Group.
