Course 5 Course 6 Course 7 Course 8 Data Collection in Performance Measurement and Quality Management Principles of Performance Measurement and Data Analysis Patient Safety and Risk Management Fundamentals of Health Care Improvement Participants gain knowledge about concepts, methods, and tools for selecting and describing performance measures and collecting data. This course explains how to use basic statistics and graphing to analyze and display data. Content focuses on how to establish a culture of safety. Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and other assessment tools are shared to help participants develop and implement risk-reduction strategies. The improvement methods taught in this course are organized to be used at each stage of the performance improvement cycle. This course lays a foundation for the study of quality management, patient safety, performance improvement, and voice-of-the-customer concepts. Participants learn how to apply evidence-based tools and practices within their organizations and share practical solutions with their care teams. The integrated curriculum is presented in eight modules over 10 months. Participants are evaluated and mentored throughout the program and, with successful completion, they receive a diploma. To be eligible, participants must work full-time in a hospital or health care facility, have quality-focused responsibilities, and meet other requirements established by the sponsoring university or organization.
