• The K490 is a lightweight, portable AC resistive load bank designed for
indoor use. It is contained in a small: 18” L x 13” W x 11” H enclosure.
The K490 is ideal for testing small generator sets and UPS units.
• The loads can be flexibly applied for a total of 10 kW at 120 or 240 VAC,
single-phase.
• The K490 resistive load elements are at the core of the load bank system.
To ensure years of reliable operation, the elements in the K490 operate
at only 1/3 (or less) of their maximum temperature rating, eliminating
the need for a “cool-down” period after operation. The load bank also
includes over-temperature protection.
• The K490 is simple to use. It does not require tools. Electrical connections are made on the front of the unit using hand-tightened terminals.
Banana jacks are standard for connecting hand-held multi-meters. The
multi-meter allows voltage, current, or frequency monitoring.
• With logically arranged controls, this load bank is intended to be an
essential piece of test equipment used by field service personnel. Its
reliable design, compact frame size, and light weight define the K490
as the “load bank of choice.”

Load Bank Specifications:
• CONSTRUCTION: The K490 load bank is an indoor,
portable, self-contained unit for testing at 120 VAC or
240 VAC.
• CONTROL POWER: Control and fan power requirements are 120V, single-phase, 60 Hz at approximately
1 amp. This power is derived from the control power
receptacle in the middle of the control panel.
• COOLING: The screened air intake is located on one
side of the unit, and exhaust is discharged outward
through the opposite side.
• CONTROLS/METERING: MASTER LOAD ON-OFF;
OVER TEMP-VOLT indicator lamp, LOAD STEP ONOFF switches, ammeter, voltmeter, voltage and current banana plugs.
• SAFETY CIRCUITS: If a voltage greater than 150 VAC
is detected, the 120 VAC load resistor will be automatically disconnected.
• WEIGHT: Approximately 30 lbs.
