ACPS-2406
Addressable Charger/Power Supply
with built-in synchronization
Section: Power Supplies
GENERAL
The ACPS-2406 is an auxiliary power supply and battery charger
with a host of unique features. Each of the four Notification Appliance Circuits (NAC) is individually addressable, eliminating the
need for control modules. In addition, each circuit can provide
notification appliance synchronization without an additional module, normally required when non-coded devices are installed. Device manufacturers supported are System Sensor, Wheelock, and
Gentex. The ACPS-2406 is compatible with all NOTIFIER intelligent Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACPs).

FEATURES
• Each NAC can be synchronized with any of the following
manufacturers’ audio/visual devices:
— System Sensor (SpectrAlert® Series)
— or Wheelock
— or Gentex
• Four NACs individually addressable by the FACP:
— 6.0 A of output power for NAC or 5.0 A of general purpose power.
— Each circuit can be DIP-switch-selected as general purpose 24 VDC power, four-wire detector power, or a Notification Appliance Circuit.
— Steady, March Time (120 PPM), Dual Stage, Temporal,
or UZC Zone-Coded and Non-Coded devices — all DIPswitch-selectable by circuit.
• Universal Zone Coder (UZC-256)/supervised output option
allows for programmable coded outputs. Up to 256 different
codes.
• Charges 7 to 25 AH batteries with full supervision.
• The charger on the ACPS may be disabled via a DIP switch.
When disabled, a remote charger, for example a CHG-120,
may be used to battery-back multiple ACPS supplies.
• AC loss detection and AC loss delay reporting.
• Brownout detection.
• Power-limited outputs.
• Isolated Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) interface.
• Selectable ground fault detection.
• Canadian dual-stage operation.
• Two Class A/B and two Class B (Style Y) only.
• A total of five (or less) ACPS power supplies may be connected together to synchronize multiple power supplies (connect to any NAC output from one ACPS to sync signal input
— single pair required).
INSTALLATION STANDARDS & CODES
The ACPS-2406 complies with the following standards:
• NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm Code.
• Underwriters Laboratories:
— UL 864 Standard for Control Units for Fire Alarm Systems.
— CAN/ULC – S527-M87.
In addition, the installer should be familiar with the following
standards:
6834pho1.jpg

ACPS ADDRESS SELECTION
ORDERING INFORMATION
The ACPS addresses MUST start at an address ending with
either “0” or “5”. DO NOT start the ACPS at address “000”.
ACPS-2406: Remote charger power supply, with selectable
built-in synchronization, and four built-in control modules. Includes power supply circuit board, transformers, and installation instructions. Several mounting options available (see below).
Examples of effective start addresses are 5, 10, 15 ... 120;
start addresses can go up to 145 (with 0 – 158 on loop; 13
addresses utilized by programming options), or 85 on CLIP
systems (0 – 99 on loop; 13 ACPS addresses). Dependent
upon the programming options selected (by DIP switches), the
ACPS takes 5 (minimum) to 13 addresses on the SLC loop.
Address functions:
Address 1 = ACPS Trouble; tells FACP the ACPS is in
Trouble.
Address 2 = Activates NAC 1.
Address 3 = Activates NAC 2.
Address 4 = Activates NAC 3.
Address 5 = Activates NAC 4.
Address 6 = Silence Address (activation silences System
Sensor, Wheelock, or Gentex sync strobes).
Address 7 = Monitor AC Fail (Canadian requirement).
Address 8 = Monitor Battery (Canadian requirement).
Address 9 = Monitor Earth Fault (Canadian requirement).
Address 10 = Dual Stage (changes NAC 1 from 20 PPM to
Temporal).
Address 11 = Dual Stage (changes NAC 2 from 20 PPM to
Temporal).
Address 12 = Dual Stage (changes NAC 3 from 20 PPM to
Temporal).
Address 13 = Dual Stage (changes NAC 4 from 20 PPM to
Temporal).

APPLICATION
EXAMPLE 1
NOTES: 1) In this application, five SLC addresses are used: Point 1 = Trouble Monitor (used to notify control panel of ACPS trouble
condition); Point 2 = Output #1; Point 3 = Output #2; Point 4 = Output #3; Point 5 = Output #4. 2) SLC wiring only is shown in diagram.

APPLICATION EXAMPLE 2, master/slave
synchronization
NOTES: 1) In this application, six SLC addresses are used: Point 1 = Trouble Monitor (used to notify
control panel of ACPS trouble condition); Point 2 = Output #1; Point 3 = Output #2; Point 4 = Output
#3; Point 5 = Output #4; Point 6 = Electronic Signal Silence. 2) SLC wiring only is shown in diagram.
3) In this application, ACPS #1 and ACPS #2 have a “common” (all devices) sync signal. The NAC
output of ACPS #1 must be wired to the coded input of ACPS #2. 4) In this application, addressable
point #6 is used to signal ACPS horns to silence and let the strobes continue to run. System Sensor,
Wheelock, or Gentex sync devices only. This is a global selection.
