This version of course will be available for Fall 2015 term New York City College of Technology The City University of New York Department of Communication Design CDMG4900 Media Management Internship Course Description Assignment to find fieldwork/study of approximately eight to ten hours per week at a media managementrelated internship site approved by the department internship director. Internship must be found in one of the following disciplines: advertising, printing, corporate communications or publishing. Students are required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog such as Openlab. A portion of the class is devoted to presenting and sharing experiences with classmates. Students learn how to assess their talents, update their resume, and promote themselves and their work through social networks. Students are required to setup and maintain at least two social media networks such as: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Pintrest. 2 cl hrs, 120 field hrs/semester, 3 cr Prerequisites CDMG2901 or department approval required. Course Objectives INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES ASSESSMENT For the successful completion of this course, Evaluation methods and criteria students should be able to: Work with a supervisor and take direction at regularly scheduled meetings. Students will demonstrate competency through writing assignments and be evaluated by instructor. Meet the organization’s attendance requirements. Meet the organization’s needs for record keeping and attendance at meetings. Define and explain the organization’s mission. Use the assigned internship hours to complete assigned tasks. Students will be evaluated by the supervisor in a final evaluation form. Develop professional working relationships.
