Aurora Accent Dome The half-sphere dome evenly
blends the backlight from the lamp, hiding all internal
mechanics of the fixture.
Pan Tilt Mechanism The self-locking, hot-aiming
system makes installation and long-term maintenance
simple and easy. The locking, adjustable lamp positioning
system allows for 362 degrees of rotation and can be
tilted a full 45 degrees; all adjustable directly through the
aperture. The gears are hidden directly behind the lamp
source, concealed discreetly behind the Aurora Accent
Dome.
Plaster Plate This U.S patented component is the
foundation of the clean, minimal aesthetic. This adjustable
plate allows contractors to place plaster seams far away
from the aperture on all sides, preventing an uneven
ceiling or cracking from heat. The final appearance is
smooth and flawless, letting the architecture of the space
be the primary focus.
Truly Trimless Knife Edge Another patented
feature of the Aurora is the precision machined Knife
Edge, which eliminates the need to add a bulky trim to
your ceiling. Thin and precisely angled, the Knife Edge
eliminates glare and allows light to cleanly pass through
the aperture. During installation, the Knife Edge is
protected by a paint shield and Pure Magic, an invisible
coating that prevents paint from adhering to the edge.

fixture and incorporates another intriguing feature: color-changing LEDs.
The LED Ring reflects off the Aurora Accent Dome; giving the appearance
of a colored lens on the ceiling, while crisp, white light projects out to accent
artwork or provide general illumination.
The Aurora RGB has endless color possibilities and combinations, giving you

Challenging the perception of light, color and space, the Aurora RGB Accent
Dome acts as a projection screen to evenly reflect the uplighting from the
RGB LEDs, while a white halogen light projects downwards, highlighting your
artwork or other décor.
The illusion of the Aurora RGB is a phenomenon of visual perception. When
looking at the ceiling, there appears to be an infinite expanse of colored light

Correlated Color
Temperature (CCT)
CCT describes the relative
color appearance of a white
light source, indicating
whether it appears more
yellow/gold or more blue,
in terms of the range of
available shades of white.
CCT is given in Kelvin (K),
the SI unit of absolute
temperature, and refers
to the appearance of a
theoretical black body
heated to high temperatures.
As the black body gets
hotter, it turns red, orange,
yellow, white, and finally blue.
The CCT of a light source is
the temperature (in K) at
which the heated black
body matches the color of
the light source in question.

Color Rendering Index (CRI)
CRI indicates how well a light source
renders colors, on a scale of 0 to 100,
compared to a reference light source
of similar color temperature. The test
procedure established by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE)
involves measuring the extent to which
a series of eight standardized color
samples differ in appearance when
illuminated under a given light source,
relative to the reference source. The
average “shift” in those eight color
samples is reported as Ra or CRI. In
addition to the eight color samples
used by convention, some lighting
manufacturers report an “R9” score,
which indicates how well the light
source renders a saturated deep
red color.

Visible Light
The human eye detects electromagnetic radiation in wavelengths
between 400 nanometers (nm) and 750nm. The perception
of color depends on the wavelength. A short, 450nm wavelength is seen as blue light, while a long wavelength of 700nm
appears red.
Infrared (IR)
IR wavelengths range from 1mm to 750nm. Infrared light can be
detected as the heat from a fire or a light bulb. IR wavelengths
of electromagnetic radiation are slightly longer than the human
eye can perceive.
Ultraviolet (UV)
UV wavelengths range from 100nm to 400nm. Present in
sunlight, fluorescent light, and to some degree incandescent
light, UV light degrades the components of paper, photographs,
inks, paints, and adhesives.
Total Radiant Energy
This is a total of the three light wavelengths — Visible Light,
Infrared, and Ultraviolet.
Heat (conduction + convection)
Total amount of energy converted into heat by the light source.
Lumens per Watt
The number of lumens (measurement of light produced in
the visible spectrum) divided by the total watts used to create
the light.
Rated Lamp Life
The longevity of a light source is established through laboratory
testing. For traditional lamp types, a sample group of lamps
are burned, including being subjected to several starts per
day — the length of time required for half of the lamps to fail
determines that product’s rated life. For LEDs this is calculated
differently. LEDs do not burn out like traditional lamps; rather,
their brightness slowly fades. So, if the lifespan of an LED is
listed at 50,000 hours that is the point when the LED will most
likely be shining at around 70% of its initial brightness.
Mercury
Mercury is an essential ingredient for many types of energyefficient lamps. Fluorescent lamps and high intensity discharge
(HID) lamps are the two most common types. It has long been
established that mercury, in sufficient amounts, can be toxic.
