STAFF DAY
Velammal Educational Trust organized ‘Staff Day’ on1st November, 2015 at Kamaraj Auditorium, Velammal College of
Engineering and Technology, Madurai. Shri. M.V. Muthuramalingam, Chairman, Velammal Educational Trust presided over
the program. Mr A. Kaliyamurthy, I.P.S (Retd.) former Superintendent of Police, Trichy was the Chief Guest. He made
a spell-bound speech among teaching fraternity, reminding them, the great role of teachers in building great nation and
thereby creating dutiful citizens. Shri. Ganesh Natarajan, Vice Chairman, Velammal Educational Trust, Madurai welcomed
the gathering and he with his sound corporate experience offered valuable tips for all those teachers on how to be successful
in their career, meeting all targets. Dr. S. Asokan, Vice Chairman, VMCH&RI delivered a special address, recollecting the
positive impact that all his teachers made on him for leading a successful life. Dr. N. Suresh Kumar, Principal, proposed the
vote of thanks. Dr T Smiles, Prof & Head of English Department was the anchor. The Management gifted all the teachers
with wrist watches and hosted a sumptuous lunch for all the teachers.
TN GOVT RECOGNITON
Our pre-final students of ECE Mr. B. Praveen. Mr. U. Tarun Nishanth, Ms.
A. Philomine Arulmathi and Ms. R Mirudhula, won the first prize for “The
Honourable Chief Minister’s award for Excellence in e-Governance” in the
district level, organized by Tamil Nadu Government. The students received Rs.
10,000 cash prize and gold medals from Madurai district collector individually
on 18.11.2015 for their project titled Biometric Assisted e - Health Record for
Pregnant Women and Chronic patients linking Primary Health Centers
(PHCs) using Cloud Computing under the guidance of Dr. A. Babu Karuppiah,
Asso. Professor/ECE, Dr.B.Sridevi, Professor/ECE, and Mr.R.Rajaraja, AP/ECE

THE IMPORTANCE OF PLACEMENT INITIATIVES
Chairman addressed all the students on the importance of placements on 19.09.15.
The need for taking placement initiatives and activities very seriously was
deliberated and elaborated at length.
21st EDITION OF ICTACT BRIDGE
The 21st Edition of ICTACT BRIDGE was
scheduled on the 28th October 2015 at Hotel
Fortune Pandiyan, Madurai. The theme of
this edition was “HR summit” and it focused
on the changing phase of HR with respect
to volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and
ambiguity especially related to the recruitment
of freshers. All the HoDs and senior faculty
members attended this program.
INTERDEPARTMENTAL QUIZ PROGRAM
On 18th November, 2015, the Department of English, organized an inter-departmental
Quiz program on Current Affairs and General Knowledge for the teaching staff.
Faculty from Chemistry, Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, IT, Maths, Mechanical and Physics
were in the fray.
The well fought and absorbing competition included six rounds:
1.world and beyond 2.India 3.Audio 4.Video 5.Entertainment and 6.Rapid Fire.
Dr. R. Deepalakshmi and Mrs. G. Mohana Priya of CS department secured the first place, the second prize was bagged by Dr. G.
Manikandan and Mr. M.Saravana Mohan of Mech. Department and the third prize went to Mr. S. Kamalesh and Mr. P. Suresh Babu
of IT department.
Dr T Smiles, Prof and Head of English department was the quiz master. Dr.S.Suriya, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE and
Mr Saravana Pandi, the final year student of Computer Science Department provided able technical support.
Mr Ganesh Natarajan, Vice Chairman, Dr.N. Suresh Kumar, Principal and Dr.Selvaraj Director MBA distributed the certificates and
the cash award to the winners. In his concluding note, the Vice Chairman while appreciating the organizers emphasized on the need
for knowledge updation on Current Affairs and General Knowledge on a continuous basis.
SPECIAL RECRUTIMENT DRIVE AT FATIMA COLLEGE, MADURAI
On 24th Nov, a team of recruiters, headed by
Shri. Ganesh Natarajan, Vice Chairman, from
VCET and Velammal Schools conducted
a campus recruitment program at Fatima
College, Madurai. As a precursor, 200 and
odd candidates were treated with a multimedia
presentation on the success story of Velammal
Educational Trust. After the preliminary
scrutiny of applications, candidates appeared
for demonstration classes where subject
experts assessed their caliber. The short
listed candidates were interviewed by Shri. Ganesh Natarajan, for appointments in different schools. The team of recruiters included
