These five courses require a field experience in public school classrooms with students with
developmental cognitive disabilities during each of the four semesters prior to student teaching. The
structuring of these experiences will be such that each student will have a dedicated semester in an
PRIMARY, MIDDLE/JUNIOR HIGH and SECONDARY class prior to the placement in student
teaching, thereby ensuring cross-age experience to fulfill the K- requirement. These experiences will also
apply and reinforce Standards of Effective Practice.
