The BS/MS program is discontinued as of Fall 2013 and the final cohort of students in the BS/MS program was admitted in Fall 2012. The outcomes presented in this report represent the final time that outcomes will be measured for the old curriculum. Beginning in Fall 2013, data will be collected on outcome measures developed for the new curriculum and new program outcomes. Therefore, this report does not address curriculum changes and student learning after change, since the changes in curriculum will begin to take effect for Fall 2013. Page 1 of 2 Program Assessment Report Initial Evidence of Student Learning: SLO 6: Mastery of this SLO was measured by completion of the final paper for OCTH 235, Cultural Diversity in Occupational Therapy, with a grade of C or above. All students who took OCTH 235 in both Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 received at least a grade of C on this paper, indicating mastery of this SLO. SLO 7, 8, and 9: Mastery of these three SLOs is measured through the competency assessment administered in OCTH 244: Seminar and Practicum. In this course students evaluate and treat an individual attending one of the three on-campus occupational therapy clinics. They are evaluated by the clinic instructor on these and other competencies. The course is graded CR/NC and a grade of CR is given when student performance is equivalent to a B (83%) grade. All students enrolled in this course in both Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 received a grade of CR in this course, indicating mastery of these three SLOs. SLO 10: Mastery of this SLO is measured using the literature review and research proposal paper submitted in OCTH 295B, Advanced Research Methods. Students must receive a B (83%) on this paper to pass this SLO. All students enrolled in OCTH 295B in Spring 2013 received a grade of B or better on this paper, indicating mastery of this SLO. Other Outcome Measures: National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Examination: All graduates of accredited occupational therapy programs in the United States must take and pass this exam in order to be certified as an occupational therapist and be eligible for a license to practice in any state. Our professional accreditation body, the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) requires that occupational therapy programs maintain a first-time test taker pass rate on the exam of at least 70% in order to qualify for continuing accreditation. The SJSU OT program first-time test taker pass rate for the NBCOT exam for 2012 was 85%. This is exactly at the national average of all US occupational therapy programs.
