McGraw-Hill. Most other Principles of Microeconomics textbooks can be used as
reference as well.

Course Goals and Program Learning Objectives: Understand the concepts of supply, demand,
opportunity cost, and elasticity; ability to examine current events using these
concepts. Learn to use the analysis of marginal benefits and marginal costs to make
rational decisions.
Course Description:
This is a one-unit course that runs entirely on line. It is designed for students
preparing for graduate programs in business and for economics majors
transferring from a 3-unit principles course of Microeconomics in other
Universities or Colleges. The expected workload is 2 to 3 hours per week on
average. This course is graded on a credit/no credit basis. To receive credit
requires a score of 60 percent or better cumulatively on all assignments. You
will be assigned readings and problems through APLIA over the Internet.

Aplia.com for the price determined by Aplia.com annually. See the
APLIA REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTION posted on
my website: www.sjsu.edu/people/doris.cheng. You will need a
connection to the Internet from a standard computer on campus or from
your home. Homework assignments will be posted on the course
website only at Aplia.com each week. You should check the Aplia
website on Monday or as early as possible during the week to budget you
time and you must do the work by the due time posted to get credit. No
late work will be accepted for ANY REASON. The instructor will not
give a reminder or help with the work. Please budget your time and
finish your work by the deadline that is usually at 11:30 pm on the
Sunday of the assignment week.
Please follow the sign-up sheet to register for the lab ASAP. Once you
have registered with Aplia, you can start doing the work with or without
payment. There is a payment grace period. Students who neglect to pay
Aplia by the end of the grace period (9/14/2014) will no longer have
access to the site to complete the assignments. It is strongly
recommended to pay at the time of registration. Aplia will keep track
of your performance and provide it to the instructor at the end of the
semester.

Limits to Retaking Econ 2B
For economics majors and minors, Econ 2B is considered an easy, "refresher" course.
You have a maximum of two attempts to pass Econ 2B. If you fail to pass Econ 2B
within two attempts for whatever reason, you must enroll in Econ 1B and repeat this
course again. You cannot retake Econ 2A or Econ 2B for a third time
Dropping and Adding
Students should be aware of the current deadlines and penalties for adding and
dropping classes.
