New Business: Dr. Victor Clincy Department of Computer Science & Information Systems Master of Science in Applied Computer Science: Program Update Course Changes: CS6500 Fundamentals of Programming with Data Structures CS6501 Fundamentals of Computer and Network Architecture New Course Proposals: CS6503 Fundamentals of Data Communications CS6503 Syllabus CS6504 Fundamentals of Data Structures and Algorithms CS6504 Syllabus This proposal consists of breaking 3 existing courses (CS 6500, CS 6501 and CS 6502) into 5 courses to allow a separate course for each foundation topic versus combining topics. These courses are prerequisite, foundational courses that do not count towards the degree and are used as preparation for 8000 level courses. A discussion of 6000 level courses prompted the motion of Tom Miller to table this item until the subject can be discussed in-depth between CSIS and the Graduate Dean. Alan Kirk seconded the motion, there was no further discussion and the motion passed. Dr. Amy Woszczynski Master of Science in Information Systems: Program Changes: Graduate Certificate in Information Security and Assurance With the earlier curriculum update, course IS 8300 Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning was omitted in error. Course Changes: IS8200 Legal and Ethical Isues in Information Systems IS8200 Syllabus IS8920 Customer Relationship Management IS8920 Syllabus The course changes are to correct an oversite regarding prerequisites. Dr. Taha Mzoughi College of Science & Mathematics Department of Biology & Physics: New Course Proposal - PHED 5400 The Teaching & Learning of Physics This is a new course where the primary focus is the application of content and pedagogical knowledge to the practice of teaching physics. It is an optional, freestanding course that includes a lab component. David Mitchell made a motion to accept the first reading contingent upon changing the credit hours to 2-2-3. Nita Paris seconded the motion, there was no discussion and the motion passed. Tracey Carter made a motion to waive the second reading, Alan Kirk seconded, there was no discussion and the motion passed. Dr. Alan Kirk Wellstar College of Health and Human Services Social Work and Human Services Department: MSW Program Change This proposal deletes the advanced standing (39 hour) program from the MSW curriculum and therefore from the catalog. Taha Mzoughi made a motion to accept the first reading and waive the second, Nita Paris seconded the motion, there was no discussion and the passed. 4. A discussion regarding the actual cost of new courses/proposals being cited as “no additional cost” in proposals when the reality might be quite different was raised. Due to the full agenda it was suggested and agreed that the subject be investigated more fully at a subsequent meeting. 5. The first meeting for Fall Semester 2010 will be on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 12:30pm in KH 1203.
