Overview of instrument testing needs
Please describe your instrumentation and instrument testing needs. (Attach a separate
document if needed.) Include such items as altitude requirements, special maneuvers
needed, additional measurements needed for the evaluation of system performance,
airspeed requirements or limitations, etc. Describe the number of flights needed and the
meteorological or similar target conditions (e.g. need for polluted or clean air) needed for
testing. List the dates your instrument will be available for testing and the personnel that
are planned to be in the field with the testing. Disclose any export restrictions on your
instrument or proprietary restrictions on the instrument or data. Discuss which aircraft is
preferred for testing and if the other aircraft would also be suitable. For the 2011 C130
IDEAS program, review the schedule and indicate if you will have any problems meeting
it.
Instrument Testing Criteria.
Please describe how your instrument testing needs meet each of the criteria listed in the
IDEAS announcement.

Will EOL support be required in preparing the instrument(s)
for use on the aircraft (other than inspection, installation and
power hook-up)? If so, specify type and lead time.
Will you be using your own recording system?
What additional recording capability is needed? Please

(yes / no)
All user-supplied equipment must meet RAF safety and design specifications. Refer to RAF Bulletin No.
3, No 13 and the Design Guide RAF-DG-00-001 (http://www.eol.ucar.edu/Bulletins/).
provide details on the number of signals, their characteristics,
format, synchronous, fire-wire, ethernet, etc.
If nonstandard output formats and/or data rates are required,
how often are the measurements needed? Note: The standard
format for processed, RAF output data is net CDF. The
standard output media are CD/DVD and ftp transfer.
