Resolution No. 21 A Resolution encouraging Austin Peay State University and Sustainable Campus Fee Committee to explore the possibility of adding cigarette butt receptacles to all indicated smoking sections on campus. WHEREAS, SGA exists "to serve as the voice of the students, and to make sure their thoughts and needs are heard and addressed to increase their quality of life”. WHEREAS, students have expressed concerns and displeasures with cigarette butts being simply thrown on the ground in the designated smoking areas. WHEREAS, cigarette butts simply being thrown in a trashcan can be a fire hazard. WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the growing university to maintain this achieved status of "safe." WHEREAS, keeping the smoking areas free of cigarettes being thrown on the ground would help with the campus beautification. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED ON THIS 17TH DAY OF MARCH BY THE 64TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE AUSTIN PEAY STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION THAT: Section 1: Upon passage of this Resolution, the Student Government Association will issue a formal recommendation to the Sustainable Campus Fee Committee to explore the possibility of adding cigarette butt receptacles to the smoking sections in designated smoking parking lots. _______________________ Sponsoring Senator _______________________ SGA President _______________________ SGA Chief Justice _______________________ Date
