and Research Tracks and for Promotion to Associate Professor without tenure and
Conversions to Tenure

Intramural letters are defined as those written by current or former Penn faculty.
These letters should provide additional information regarding a candidate’s
qualifications, particularly in the areas of interdisciplinary, interdepartmental and
inter-school activities.

If the candidate has a secondary appointment in another school or department, a
letter should be solicited.

Letters from a candidate’s home department are not required.
