Fourth Grade Newsletter

Welcome! I hope everyone is enjoying the
snow outside, and I hope students had a restful
Monday off of school! It is beginning to look
more like a winter wonderland!
I am excited to return to school; I missed the
class very much while I was away, although I
was able to enjoy some valuable time with my
two boys!
Report card envelopes were due back this
week. I received all of the envelopes, so I am
hoping everyone was able to see them. Miss
Berhow graded students for the first trimester,
and the grades reflect her understandings of
how each student has been doing. I will be
grading from now on, so if you have any
questions or concerns, please let me know.
Earlier this week we celebrated 12-12-12 day,
and students were able to watch the principal
be pied by various students and staff members!
Today we watched the Be-Free Puppetry!
Next week we will be making gifts for parents
and for students. Instead of a gift exchange
where you purchase a gift, students will make
a bulb for another student in the classroom—
everything is provided by me!
Math
 Students are working on Algebra in
Chapter 5. Students are learning how to
solve for the unknown—variales.

Please have your child practicing
addition facts at home—MANY
students are adding on fingers!! We
NEED to have these facts down for
multiplication!!
Literacy
 Students who turned in their library
books were able to receive and start
reading Newberry Award books for
LMC class.
 Students read Dear Mr. Winston this
week. They will be reading Jose! when
we come back from break.
 There will be NO reading story next
week.
 Students will have some activities for
the break and other reading activities
next week.
 Students will continue spelling when
we return from break.
Social Studies
 Students are learning about Chapter 2.
We have reviewed landforms, and the 5
Land Regions of Wisconsin. Students
will have another quiz next week on the
5 Land Regions of Wisconsin.
Science
 Students are learning about light rays
and how they travel. They also learned
about different natural and man-made
light sources.
Love is not singular, except in syllable.
