Collaborate consistently with all building level leaders to assess their needs from Student Support Services. District Collaboration – Provide professional development in K-12 Vertical Student Support Teams focused on aligning and growing common vocabulary and expectations for embedded social emotional learning in all classrooms. District Collaboration – Provide professional development and planning in K-12 Vertical Student Support Teams to improve transition information and activities for students and parents from elementary, to middle, to high school. Personalized Learning – Research and develop a vision and implementation plan for social emotional learning as part of personalizing learning in FCS. Collaborate with Teaching and Learning to develop classroom culture that supports the learning and success of the whole child. Utilize Student Support Leadership Team Members to receive professional learning from the State of Georgia and develop a training module for the new State Suicide Prevention Policy. Form a training team of elementary and middle school counselors to provide professional development on Student Led Conferencing, embedded in daily classroom instruction, as part of the personalized learning model. High School – Support high school counselors in the development of academic, career, and social/emotional skills to be college and career ready. Comprehensive school counseling programs will respond to student, school, and community needs based on data, and development of prevention and intervention strategies that enhance students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development. Form a team of counselors, representative of high, middle, and elementary school, who will be trained in depth, on identifying resources and strategies at the school level for students exhibiting anxiety or mental illness concerns. Health Services Increase early identification of students with hearing and vision deficits and improve timeline for resolution of the problem – Health assistants will work with the school nurse in conducting vision and hearing screening and paperwork. Increase early identification of students with health conditions to implement accommodations needed to improve health and decrease absences. – Utilize health assistants, where possible, to complete clerical work, stocking supplies, and other supportive measures for the school clinic, providing additional time for nurses to serve students. Provide training for a differentiated Mentoring program for school based at risk students, REACH Scholars, and students assigned to Gateway. Work collaboratively with Public Communications, Teaching and Learning, and Technology to update Parent Toolbox. Work closely with Public Communications and community resources to raise funds for the 2016-17 REACH Scholarship Program. Continue to support middle and high schools with REACH Scholars by providing training and resources for REACH Mentors. Develop district wide K-12 plan for decreasing chronic absenteeism by revising procedures, gathering input from building level leaders, researching best practices for attendance interventions, and implementing effective interventions. Continue to build positive community relationships through collaborative meetings and communication with the Forsyth County Court System, DFCS, Forsyth County Non Profits, and the Forsyth County Sheriffs Department Psychology Collaborate with Special Education Department in providing professional learning in the area of mental illness. Provide professional learning with special education facilitators and school psychologists to develop collaborative relationships between the two departments that will support school personnel, parents, and students through the RTI and special education processes. Support the role out of the new FASTBridge Program at all elementary, middle, and high schools (universal screening and progress monitoring). Work closely with the FASTBridge Program and all schools to implement new tools as they become available. Expand the knowledge and use of the RTI Desktop Program at all K-12 Forsyth County Schools – School Psychologists will provide training for school staff at their assigned schools.
