South Forsyth High School Physical Education Weight Training Class Participation Policy 1. Students must be properly dressed out to participate in class. There are no exceptions to this rule. (No flip flops, sandals) toes and heels must be covered. B) The school Physical Education uniform is required for all weight training, body sculpting and fitness classes. Students who do not dress out as defined will not receive full credit for the activity that day. C) Sweat pants, jogging pants and sweat shirts are permitted and recommended on cold days. We will go outside to do conditioning and occasionally activities. (The school issued physical education uniform will still be required under any such additional clothing) *Physical Education Uniforms May Not Be Altered In Any Way!! “Participation” is defined as: A) Students must stay at their assigned area or machine to do lifts until instructed otherwise. B) The assigned number of sets and repetitions is what is expected. Anything less will result in loss of participation points. C) Students must work within the group they are assigned. D) They just show cooperation and proper spotting techniques with the group in which they were assigned. E) Students must FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. F) Technique and safety are the number one priorities within the weight room. We will test in the following skills: Bench press, Incline Bench, Squat, Dead Lift. Girls will do dumbbell bench as opposed to incline bench. G) Horseplay and improper conduct will not be tolerated. The weight room is the easiest place on campus to get hurt. A stern warning will be issued on the first offense. The second offense the student will be sent to the office and removed from the class. Safety can not be jeopardized within the weight room. For each 9 week grading period: The 3rd time a student does not dress out and/or participate, a parent will be notified. The 5th time a student does not dress out and/or participate, an office referral will be issued. The following is a break down of your weekly dress out and participation grade: - 5 day week: 20 points/day - 4 day week: 25 points/day - 3 day week: 33 points/day - 2 day week: 50 points/day ** If a student does not dress out, the student will clean and disinfect the equipment in the weight room the entire length of the period. ** If the student does not dress out due to a sickness or is under medical care: - They must present a note from a doctor stating their condition and limitations/restrictions. A note from a parent will not excuse your participation in the class. Dressing out is still required unless the injury inhibits one’s ability to change themselves. Those who are excused from participation due to a legitimate medical issue will be given an alternate assignment to compensate for the missed work within class. **If you are absent from class: It is your responsibility to see your teacher for make up work/assignments. WE WILL NOT approach you and tell you what you missed. Accountability is a must and it is your responsibility to see what you need to make up. You will have as many days as you were absent to make up the work you missed. I have received and read the class requirements for this class.
