Course Description
Honors Finance and Investments will introduce you to the three areas of the finance
discipline: Financial Institutions, Investments and Business Finance. Finance is the study
of money and its management. Although finance is a separate academic discipline, its roots
are in accounting and economics. This course will provide you with a breadth of knowledge
of finance and is a foundation on which you may build. Topics include, but are not limited
to the role of financial markets, the role of money, the role of interest rates, the role of
investment bankers, financial regulation, banking, the Federal Reserve, monetary policy,
currency, the time value of money, the features of stock, stock valuation, the features of
bonds, bond pricing and yields, convertible securities, investment risk, investment returns,
and investment companies. This course is a must for any student planning further study in
Finance or Business in general or who has an interest in this topic.

Absences
 If absent the day of an exam, assignment, or activity, please see the instructor to
arrange a make up time. All make up work must be completed within an allotted
amount of time.
Classroom Rules
1. General Rules
 DO NOT BE LATE FOR CLASS!
 NO PASSES are given during class time.
 Respect for teacher, guest speakers, and others in the class.
 Keep your hands and feet to self, stay in your chair unless otherwise directed.
 LISTEN to the teacher and other students.
 Don’t take things that aren’t yours – ASK before borrowing!!
 Come to class prepared.
2. Responsibility is the key to success!
 Before you leave:

Push your chair in (make sure there is enough room for people to walk
behind your chair).
 Clean up your area.
 Stay at your seat until the bell rings—no crowding the door.
3. Take care of the computers, books, and other equipment – intentionally damaging
equipment is a fast ticket out of the class!!!
 NO FOOD or Drinks allowed in the lab.
 NO EMAIL unless instructed.
 Internet use for class projects only.
 DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY PROGRAMS!
Grading
Grades are determined by total number of possible points during the grading period. The
final grade will be calculated using total points from the entire school year.
90% - 100%
A
80% - 89%
B
70% - 79%
C
60% - 69%
D
59% 0%
E
*******Extra Credit may be given periodically throughout the 9 week grading period*******
*CHEATING WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC ZERO
AND A MINIMUM OF ONE DETENTION*
