Videoconference
Join us in our Collaboration Lab for a one hour discussion
with Scott Carpenter, Deputy Director of Google
Pittsburgh.
In our hyper-connected world, technology serves as a
driver of social innovation and also as a conduit for violent
extremism. During this discussion, students will have the
opportunity to discuss the work of Google's "Think-do"
tank, explore careers in technology and see how having
knowledge of global issues can help YOU!

To be a part of this event, you need to:
--Take a trip form from the stage after the meeting, OR pick one up
from the GOAL office today!
--Submit the form with your parent signature to GOAL tomorrow or
Friday morning
--Tell your 6-7-8 period teachers you are missing class and get your
make-up work
--Read the material and answer the questions so you can be part of
the discussion
--Come to the Collaboration Room at 11:45 a.m.
--BRING A BAG LUNCH AND DRINK--NO CAFETERIA

Wednesday, October 31st, join us for a special day at NAI
Policy and Heritage:
A Look at U.S - Latin American Relations
Hispanics account for more than half of the US population
growth over the past 10 years! Learn about the cultural,
economic and political issues that we share with our
neighbors to the south.
You will hear more about this program in the next couple
of weeks from your Spanish teachers and by visiting the
GOAL website. If you are currently studying Spanish--this
experience is being designed for YOU!
What are some of the break-out sessions that
are currently being designed?
A look at the cultural impact of contemporary films being
produced in Latin America
A presentation on volunteering and aid programs that support
our Latin American neighbors--how can you get involved?
Cultural experiences ---how about salsa dancing lessons?
Discussion on career opportunities for students who can speak
and write Spanish as a second language.
Hands-on activities regarding business trade, energy,
immigration, and deforestation
Chain Reaction Contraption
Design Form Due Oct 5th@ 12pm
to Ms. Serdy
The conceptual design proposal contains an illustrative drawing of
your ideas for your contraption. The drawing will not have to match
the actual contraption that you create. You must include the form!!
The proposal should contain information on how the contraption will
accomplish the task, but does not need detail on each individual
step.
Each drawing must be no larger than 8.5 inches by 11 inches.

Join us on Thursday, October 4th for a day of math
challenge! Pick up a trip form after the meeting or
in the GOAL office. Submit ASAP!
Participation is limited to 24 students
(6 teams of 4) Team Sign Up is posted outside the
GOAL office on the bulletin board!

students to enter contests, and many of those contests will soon start to
be posted on the bulletin board outside of the GOAL room door!

students on the impact of STEM (science, technology,
engineering and math) in their lives.
