Literacy/Reading
Math
*We are working on solving
addition and subtraction story
problems.
*We continue to review initial, ending and
middle vowel sounds in words. We have
also been reviewing and practicing using
blends and digraphs in our reading and
writing.
*We continue to reinforce
partners of 10, teen numbers,
and doubles facts.
*We continue to practice number
recognition, counting forward and
backward, and skip counting.
*We continue to work in the SRA Reading
Mastery program-picking up where we
left off last year. Some of the students
are finishing up book 2 and are getting
ready to move on to book 3!
*We continue to read daily from a
variety of sources.
*We continue to reinforce previously
learned high frequency words
Homework
Please continue to read nightly with
your child. Please keep your child’s
book in his/her folder and return
each day-even if the book has not
been mastered. Signing your child’s
book lets me know you have read with
your child. We will read the book
again at school. Your child will get a
new book once he/she can
demonstrate the ability to read the
book fluently with minimal errors.
* We are writing sentences to go along
with our reading.
Noteworthy News
Please continue to reinforce high
frequency words at home. Your child
needs to demonstrate mastery of 200
words. I will send home a list today of
all 200 words. We continue to
practice daily in the resource room,
too.
