Program Title: Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders Faculty Presenter: Mary Ellen Wells Course Description: Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders are defined as “a persistent or recurrent pattern of sleep disturbance” due primarily to “alterations of the circadian timing system”, or “misalignment between the endogenous circadian rhythm and exogenous factors that affect the timing or duration of sleep”, according to the International Classification of Sleep Disorders published by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. This webinar discusses several of these disorders including Delayed sleep phase disorder, advanced sleep phase disorder, irregular sleep-wake rhythm, nonentrained type or 24-hour sleep-wake syndrome, jet lag and shift-work disorder. Topics include symptoms, pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, treatment options, and preventative measures.
