Why I chose to undertake the Acceler8 Award?
It was a chance to add something special and different to my CV, adding
to this it was a chance to get some experience in an interview situation.
Furthermore it was a chance to gain and improve some important skills.
Type of experience I used to count towards my experience hours
-Joining the Funky Fresh Collective dance society
-Working in a Fish and Chip Shop part time
What I gained from undertaking the Acceler8 Award?
Everything I expected, I have something for my CV which can help me
stand out from the others, I feel more confident with an interview scenario
and I now have a much improved CV. I have improved my skills in
communication, team work, time management as well as understanding
the importance of my online presence.
Why should you do it?
As I mentioned above it is a great way to make your CV stand out from
the other students and you can learn a lot about CV's, interviews and
other important things you will need to keep in mind like how to keep a
positive online presence. Furthermore the skill sessions help you improve
greatly and are very enjoyable. Overall the ratio of time put in and what
you gain is incredible worth while. Finally you get to try something new
and meet lots of new people making your university experience so much
more enjoyable.
My Top Tips to potential Acceler8 Award Students
Join a society which offers something you either already enjoy are always
wanted to try for example dance, this is a good way to get the experience
hours.
If you are doing other experience try to get it done as quick as possible.
Make sure you understand how the dashboard on future hub works since
everything you need to know about dates and submission are on there.
Try to book the skill sessions as quickly as possible so you can attend
them when it is most convenient for you.
As for the interview panel it is not bad at all, you must be formal, punctual
and know your CV very well since they concentrate mostly on what you
have on your CV but overall it is relaxed and the panel are very nice
