Notes for LATMS Users in 349 Soda, Summer 2002
1) You have a Win2K account for the PCs in 349 Davis.
 Logon using the "EECS" domain.
 The home directory is on a server and is called U: on all the PCs.
 Logout (CNTL-ALT-DEL), turn monitor off but leave computer on.
2) You have a UNIX account for email and a WEB site.
 You can connect the UNIX home directory to your Win2K computer.
 Your public_html\index.html file = your main WEB page, for example:
http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~latms-aa
 See http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/setup.html for some instructions.
3) To connect to your UNIX files from Win2K in 349 Soda:
 Bring up the Start\Run box
 Enter "\\mamba\YOUR-LOGON". (Example: \\mamba\latms-aa)
4) To login directly to your UNIX home directory:





If you are only programming in Windows, you may never need to do this.
Open “SSH Secure Shell Client”.
Enter “po.eecs.berkeley.edu” for the Host Name.
Enter YOUR LOGON for the User Name.
To change your UNIX password, type “passwd” in the po.eecs window.
5) Email: use Netscape Messenger.
 Set incoming mail server to "pasteur.eecs.berkeley.edu”.
 Set SSL and IMAP to connect to the pasteur.eecs server.
 Login with your UNIX password.
 In our labs, set outgoing mail server to "pasteur.eecs.berkeley.edu".
 At home, set outgoing mail server to whatever your ISP specifies.
6) The printer in 349 Soda is called "\\scotland\lw349".
