University to attend Multiplier Conference for their Language
project
An EU funded project in the Lifelong Learning Programme which uses diverse
media channels to help develop language skills will present the project at a
multiplier Conference in Cáceres, Spain.
The ‘Languages in Media’ (LiMe) project aims to support adult migrant learners by providing them
with online tools to decode language and culture as portrayed in various types of media.
The Key Activity 2 Multilateral Project funded by the European Commission will join its 5 European
partners in Cáceres; the Gastronomy Capital of 2015 on Tuesday 17th March 2015 where there will
be numerous highly accomplished guest speakers. The International Academy at the University of
Wolverhampton is delighted that Ms Jodie Griffin from Tettenhall College has agreed to present a
talk on the use of Vokis in Modern Language teaching.
The event will take place at the NH Palacio de Oquendo from 9;30 until 17:30 and will include a
highly accomplished guest plenary speaker; Dr Seán Ó Riain who is Vice president of the European
Civil Society Platform for Multilingualism, Belgium, followed by a day of presentations, workshops
and interactive sessions with specialist in the field.
Angela Molinari, Vice Principal at the International Academy, University of Wolverhampton, said:
“The project is an outstanding example of how to deliver quality language and culture Knowledge to
a cross section of society for whom it is vital to be well integrated so that communities become less
difficult to become a part of.”
“The use of the media led language and culture platform is aimed at enriching the understanding of
migrant learners to allow for a smoother transition into the society of the partner country whilst
simultaneously gaining an appreciation of the intrinsic yet hidden cultural codes and values.”
