There will be one case that you will need to purchase for June 1. Course Description: Survey of the basic concepts, theories, and techniques for the management of operating systems. Development of concepts and decision processes critical to short-run and long range organizational decision making. Topics include product and process design, operations planning, project management, inventory management, capacity planning, quality and scheduling. Course Objective: To acquaint the student to the elements of design, operation and improvement of productive systems that creates the firms products and services. The student will gain an appreciation and working knowledge of operations principles and techniques that will increase customer satisfaction and value to the firm. Attendance/Participation: Attendance is expected at all classes. If, for any reason, you believe you will be unable to attend class, you should email the instructor and graduate programs administrator in advance. It is your responsibility to secure information covered, completed, or assigned in class. If more than two (2) class sessions are missed (Saturday session constitutes two sessions), you will receive a failing grade for this course. Participation is distinct from attendance, so your participation will be evaluated separately from your presence in class. It is hoped you will come to class prepared to participate in the discussions and activities. The instructor will evaluate your participation during class time. In addition, the members of your team will evaluate your participation on group assignments.
