Standard Session “Stop the HATE --- Standard Sessions” includes the standard, introduction and awareness program for understanding Bias Incidents and Hate Crimes. You will learn definitions of Bias Incidents and Hate Crimes. You will process scenarios. And you will learn about the Hate Pyramid. It is a 2 hour block of time and we will give certificates at the end. Hate Crime Laws This specialty session will focus on Hate Crime Laws including definitions of Misdemeanors and Felonies. We will look at Wisconsin State Statues responding to hate law crimes with battery and damages to personal property. You will learn about the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr Hate Crime Prevention Act. Hate Groups, Hate Symbols, Hate Music This specialty session will take a look at how hate is uniquely perpetuated and reinforced through groups, symbols, and music. This session will also discuss the differences between hate incidents and crimes, offender motivation, victim impact and needs, and much more. First Amendment vs Hate Speech This specialty session will explore the differences between hate speech and free speech and bring awareness to what forms of speeches are not protected by the first amendment. This session will also discuss the differences between hate incidents and crimes, offender motivation, victim impact and needs, and much more. Bullying: Video & Follow Up Discussion This specialty session will help participants to recognize bullying through its multifaceted forms and identify intervention and support for victims. Learn how to recognize and prevent hate incidents and crimes on campus. Victim Support & Advocacy This specialty session will focus on Victim Support and Advocacy. Hate crimes are message crimes intended to terrorize a specific group of people. Our first priority is to assessing the victim and taking care of their needs. Learn about the repercussions of hate and what it takes to be an ally, including discovering where you line up on the Ally Continuum. Attraction of Hate and Hate Motivators This specialty session will focus on the Attraction of Hate. Hate groups use the internet to get out their hate messages to youth and they provide a sense of belonging. Misinformation, lack of education and peer pressure promote unquestioning acceptance of propaganda. Hate toward Women This specialty session will focus on hatred toward women will discuss the differences between hate incidents and crimes, common crimes against women, offender motivation, victim impact and needs, and much more. Learn how to recognize and prevent hate incidents and crimes on campus. Hate in the News This specialty session will facilitate discussion on trending hate topics on the internet, radio, magazines, television, and films. Stop the Hate Today This specialty session will focus on various forms of hate crimes, discrimination, and microaggressions. You will learn how these indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, can have a negative impact on individuals. Come learn how to recognize hate on social media and special apps!
