Some assignments (class work and homework assignments) are checked off as complete (__) or as (inc). Most of these are
valued at 10-25 points each.
Late work is accepted for ½ credit during the first and second trimesters. No late work will be accepted during the 3rd
trimester. Exceptions will be made only if a student is absent due to illness or if there is confusion regarding directions.
Students may bring incomplete homework back to the classroom if there is confusion with the directions. In these cases, the
homework page must show the attempted work and must have a note from a parent explaining the situation.
Please do not call for the day’s work if a student is out. If he/she is too ill to come to school, we don’t expect that they will
be able to complete the work at that time. When a student returns from absence, he or she will be able to access the master
book and write what was missed. Students have an equal number of make-up days for the number of days they were
absent. If a student misses multiple days before a weekend, I will gladly put the work together for a Friday afternoon pickup.
Grades will be based on completion and quality of the following:
CLASS PARTICIPATION
TEST/QUIZ SCORES
DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS
SPECIAL PROJECTS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Students will bring their Wednesday Folder home every Wednesday. Returned work and import school information will be
inside folder. Please make it a habit to sit down and go through this with your child. Folders should be kept in binder with
agenda.
Student Progress can be monitored online through Power School Parent Portal which can be accessed on our
school’s webpage (http.//www.fcusd.org/eoe). Please check on a regular basis as assignments and test scores
are entered and grades fluctuate. Students are encouraged to check as well and come to me with any questions
regarding their grades.

Social Studies Weekly-Weekly newspapers contain historical and current events, great biographies and
timelines that bring history to life.
Science Weekly-Fifth grade students are tested in Science. These newspapers make science relevant to

Both newspapers are aligned with the California Standards and are great supplements to our existing
programs. The total cost is $13.00 per student.
