Meeting Notes
Image Update (Triangles of Confidential Reporting Options)
 4imprints, Andy Feutz, provided a quote for 1000 business card magnets: $200
o We have ~1200 staff members (not including student staff)
o Ordering 2000 for staff would be a good idea. Amy will work with Andy.
 A onetime distribution would probably be best with a note on each one with statistics and a note
regarding “please keep the magnet in your office” if you depart for campus
 We could also work with Paul Erickson to distribute an email to announce that the magnets will be
coming
 We could work with Val Wetzel to see if the Greek organizations could work on attaching the
notes to the magnets & get them distributed to each department. PEERS or CJA (Criminal Justice
Association) could also coordinate this project.
 Amy will contact Pubs to get the business cards (for students) put together & ordered
o The Dean of Students Office staff will be willing to distribute to students while presenting
in Intro to College Life classes
o Amy will contact Karen (PATH) to see if the cards could be distributed in Engineering
Success Skills & Bioquest sections
 Thought: could the image be displayed electronically or digitally for a day each semester (Oct &
April) & the web site & tv screens. A committee member would need to chat with the Markee staff
& ITS
Walk a Mile (in her Shoes) Walk






It seems that there is still ongoing discussion about details
Carson and Kate met with Cristian (also with Sig Ep) to review the event
A meeting will hopefully still be scheduled with Jimmy (RD).
Sig Ep members are still really excited about this event taking place in the fall.
David Nevins (Sig Ep Advisor) is on board from a CPR & Advisor stand point.
Kate reiterated to Sig Ep the need for a meeting with the Doyle Center before they get the official
planning going
o
Past Meeting Notes/Summary: Males walk from the city park to campus in women’s red
high heels to send a message about sexual violence and sexual assault awareness.
Clare noted that the transgender community may have some concerns about this event;
transgender women may find it insensitive for males to be walking/wearing the red high
heels. Clare said that she’d be happy to meet with Carson to discuss this further.
Madelon shares the concerns as well; education before and/or after the event may be
helpful as a similar event when men were walking between buildings in high heels a few
years ago was not received well.Ideas for awareness/education: Awareness raising on
the TVs in the Markee, Social media, message sent by a student organization.
Dance the Night Away (10th Annual Silent Auction)
 $20/person or $8/student
 April 30th, 7:30- 8:30 food & auction
 8:30- 10pm a band will be playing (Nancy Wilson’s husband’s band)
 A volunteer is working on donations
 T-shirts will be on display and available for purchase
 There will be large posters on the floor to show statistics
 The target is about:150 attendees
 The funding is still unclear; Kate will touch base with Paula at Family Advocates & Kelly Jo (Event
Services). $1000 has been allocated out of a Dean of Students account, $100 Doyle Center
donation, & possibly FA will cover the balance
Sexual Assault Support Group

Paula consistently has 3 students coming to the Monday night groups
Faculty Responsibility as Mandated Reporters

To Be Revisited by SAAC later:
o Currently faculty must report as mandated reporters, BUT the report can by anonymous
o the student’s name doesn’t have to be noted
o
Maybe a magnet would be really helpful with bulleted information listing the steps as
faculty often forget ‘what’ the steps are
Title IX Videos
 The instructional segment (required by all staff) has been well received
Getting the Triangle Image Displayed in Public Spots on Campus (Postcard created by Pubs)
 To Still Be Revisited by SAAC:
o A laminated sign for restrooms might be helpful- per Pete Nemmetz if Res Life supports
this and brings it to facilities with a plan for the signs, facilities could discuss options
o We can put the image on the web page (SAAC web page)
Budget

There is $3000 in the SAAC account.
Panty Pulping Presenter –
o Question to consider: should this event be moved to October to hopefully increase the
opportunity for better weather?
Wilgus Hall- “Red My Lips” – wear red lipstick to show people support sexual assault awareness
o The first event was fantastic! They ran out of lipstick the first hour.
o The event will be repeated April 26th 11a-1pm
o There is a handout with some information about reporting sexual assault, victim blaming,
& myths & facts
o Wilgus & Melcher Hall headed this up
Human Trafficking Speaker, April 13th, 6:30pm in Dodgeville at Social Service
o The event was fairly well attended (approximately 25 attendees)
Exponent Coverage
 Hannah provided a small snippet in the Exponent to highlight sexual violence
 A 2nd article will be in the Exponent this week
Web Site


Dan is working on the web site to bring the info up to date.
