The Constitution of the Students United for America
Article I.
Section 1. The Executive Board of the Students United for America is
composed of the elected offices of President, Vice President, and
Treasurer and the nonelected offices of Secretary and other offices as
so determined by the elected officers.
Section 2. Those eligible for suffrage are defined as members who
have attended two regular meetings within the past twenty school
days. The mentioned attending members are defined as members who
are not holding an elected office and are present or in teleconference,
if out of state or country, during meeting when voting is occurring.
Section 3. The elected officers afor mentioned will be elected prior to
the conclusion of the spring semester by attending members. A vote to
call for the removal requires the affirmative vote of two of three
elected officers and a one vote majority of attending members. If
ratified, a public announcement will be sent out via email prior to the
removal vote. Elected officers can be removed from office with the
affirmative vote of two of three elected officers and a two-thirds
majority of attending members a week after the call for removal vote.
Section 4. The nonelected officers afor mentioned will be appointed by
the elected officers in a process to be determined by the elected
officers. The nonelected offices will be vacant upon the election of the
elected officers. The elected officers can reappoint nonelected officers.
Nonelected officers can be removed from office with the affirmative
unanimous vote of elected officers.
Section 5. Nonelected offices can be created and removed with the
affirmative unanimous vote of elected officers.
Section 6. Upon vacancy of any elected office, a special election will be
held within two weeks.
Section 7. The academic advisor for the Students United for America
can be approved with the affirmative unanimous vote of elected
officers and a two-thirds majority of attending members. Dissolving
ties with the afor mentioned academic advisor with the affirmative
unanimous vote of elected officers.
Section 8. If attending members consider the elected officers are
directing the Students United for America in a partisan direction, it is
incumbent for two attending members to call for a question of
leadership vote with the affirmative one vote majority of attending
members. Following a special meeting session called by attending
members, where concerned attending members can present an
argument that the Students United for America is led with a partisan
direction, a new election for all elected offices will be held with the
affirmative vote of seven-eighths majority of attending members.
Article II.
Section 1. The Students United for America can merge with any other
club or national organization, hence dissolving the Students United for
America, with the affirmative unanimous vote of elected officers and
seven-eighths majority of attending members.
Section 2. The Students United for America can incorporate any other
club or organization under its auspices with the affirmative unanimous
vote of elected officers and seven-eighths majority of attending
members.
Article III.
Section 1. All budget decisions must be approved with the affirmative
vote of two of three elected officers. Any individual expenses (not total
for single event) over $200 must be approved with the affirmative one
vote majority of attending members.
Article IV.
Section 1. The Secretary will mark attendance at the beginning of each
meeting.
Section 2. Elected officers must announce a schedule for each
semester within three weeks of semester’s start.
Section 2. Absences are defined as lack of attendance due to a
nonreligious or nonmedical event. Lack of attendance for an
unscheduled meeting is not recognized as an absence. Any canceled
scheduled meeting is recognized as full attendance by the secretary.
Section 3. Elected and nonelected officers must alert the Secretary of
any absences.
Article V.
Section 1. All procedures and organizing of activities and events not
afor mentioned will be developed by elected officers as seen fit in
conjunction with nonelected officers and attending members.
Article VI.
Section 1. This constitution must be approved with the affirmative vote
of one vote majority of all members on April 11, 2006.
Section 2. Amendments to this constitution must be approved with the
affirmative unanimous vote of elected officers and three-fourths
majority of attending members.
