Choice Canterbury Tale Assignment
Hear ye! Hear ye! A local theater company requests your assistance in selecting a tale from the Canterbury
Tales to adapt to the stage. They need your insight and analysis to determine if the tale is worthy for
performance!
For this project, select a tale from the book that we have not already read.
Read the tale (and prologue if applicable) and produce a thoughtfully-designed one- page handout that
includes the following:







A bold title.
One-paragraph synopsis of tale.
One-paragraph reaction to tale. Would it make a good stage play? What did you like/dislike about it?
Quote a significant line.
Describe the mood and important theme(s) in a paragraph. Is it dramatic? Fantastical? Humorous?
Does it have a message or moral lesson? Is this a tale for children or an adult audience?
List of characters, and a sentence description for each.
