The Earth rotates (spins) which causes different hours of day and night.
The side of Earth facing the Sun experiences daytime and the side facing away from the Sun
experience nighttime.
Each day is 24 hours. (one rotation)
It takes 365 ¼ days to revolve around the Sun.

Days are longer in the summer and shorter in the winter.
Solstice occurs 2 times per year. On these two days, the daytime is longest and the
nighttime is shortest in the summer. But in the winter, the nighttime is longest and the
daytime is shortest.
Rotation of the Earth is the cause of day and night.
Since the northern hemisphere is tilted
toward the Sun, the days will be longer
and the nights will be shorter.

the Sun, the days will be shorter and the
nights will be longer in the northern
hemisphere.
