Mineralogical Society, Geomicrobiology Network Meeting 10-11 September 2014 Newcastle University, UK Abstract submission deadline: 29th August, 2014 Instructions for Authors Delegates may chose to offer oral or poster presentations, 7 oral presentations and up to 40 poster presentation will be selected from the submitted abstracts. ORAL PRESENTATIONS All talks will be either 15 (+ 5 minutes for questions). ABSTRACTS FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS AND POSTERS Each abstract may be up to 1 page of A4. There should be a 2.5 cm margin on all sides of the page. Please use an 11 pt Times New Roman font. Your abstract must include the following: Presentation title Author names with the presenting author in bold type Author affiliations (superscript 1,2,3, etc after names to indicate addresses) Presenting author e-mail address Text (11 pt Times New Roman font) You may include figures and/or tables (embedded in the text and figure captions 9 pt Times New Roman font) You may include a short list of references. The following style should be used: Title in sentence case, centred in 16 point bold Presenting Author1 bold 11 point text centred Author2 etc 11 point text centred 1 Author 1 address and email 10 point italic centred 2 Author 2 address 10 point italic centred etc Text of the abstract should be in 11 point text and not justified Any references and figure captions should be given in 9 point text Figures Line diagrams and greyscale drawings must have a resolution of at least 600 dpi. Photographs (halftones) must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi It is also possible to include colour diagrams in your abstract, but please note that in the paper abstract volume these will be printed in greyscale. (An electronic version of the abstract volume with colour diagrams and photos will be available from the conference website.) Submission of abstracts Send the completed registration form to the Mineralogical Society office (as outlined on the form) and e-mail your abstract to admin@minersoc.org as an attachment. Please remember to state your preferred talk length. PRESENTATIONS Oral For oral presentations, MS-Powerpoint is the preferred format. Poster Posters should be A1 portrait (594 mm wide x 841 mm high). Posters will remain up for the whole day on 10 September with a dedicated poster viewing session at 17.15 to 19.00. Posters should be placed on the appropriate poster board as early as possible on the first morning of the meeting or as soon as you arrive. Posters should be attended by authors during the dedicated poster session.
