Owl Families, The teachers and education support professionals of Mission Ridge want to get the word out about the importance of children's literacy. The National Education Association's (NEA) Read Across America is a year-round literacy project that encourages readers, both young and old, to celebrate reading. Motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers. Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. Right here at Mission Ridge we're getting into the reading excitement, too. Along with the Read Across America activities we will also be having our Book Fair. This is a perfect opportunity to build your child’s home library. We encourage all Mission Ridge Owls to participate in the upcoming events for the week of February 29-March 4.
