VI. Strengths/Weaknesses: These are personal qualities that can contribute to your fitness and
success for a career or your lack of fitness for a career. It may be helpful to refer back to the
personality and interest assessments, (Myers Briggs, Holland, and Campbell) to list any strengths
and weaknesses that you may not have already included in this data base.
Strengths
I posses quit strong problem-solving skills and computer skills. My selfmanagement skills are also good. For example, I know how to deal with computer and
the other office machines. I compatible in using computer software such as Microsoft
Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Photoshop, Movie Maker, etc. I have always
been able to find a solution for the main problems that I had. Most of the times I took
initiative in my hands and made its thorough analyze. I never give up and actively seek
the best solution. I am able to manage my time well and prepare effective to-do lists and
keep them current. I can easily set up goals and priorities for them and deal with the most
important tasks first.
Weaknesses
Some of my collaboration, communication and change-management skills should
be improved. Otherwise, they might drawback my career in the future. Thus, in order to
succeed as a manger I have to learn how to influence people – motivate them. And now I
don’t consider myself as a good motivator. Another staller is that my skill as a team
leader needs an improvement because I feel that I lack the ability to lead others. Also I
have to become more organized and creative in order to be able to meet deadlines in a
fast-paced work environment. In addition, I want to be able to manage my own career by
myself rather than leaving that for the others.
VII. Important Questions:
1. What careers are suggested by your skills (and strengths)?
My skills and strength suggest the following career fields: education, social service,
health care, entertainment, action, business, sales, service, and science.
2. Do they coincide with the careers suggested by your values, personality and
interests?
Definitively, they are. I want to become an international business manager, because
business career attracts me. I would like traveling and exploring different cultures.
Besides, I know that I can have a good income from my career.
3. What skills do you need to improve to be successful at the careers you might
choose?
I need to improve my collaboration and change-management skills.
4. Are there some skills you lack that would be “career stallers”?
The lack of motivating, leading and adapting skills might be career stallers. In
addition, I have to learn to manage my career by my own, not letting others do it for
me.
5. What are your plans to improve these skills?
In order to become a good motivator probably I have to take psychological
coursework. I have to work over myself and get more confident to become a good
leader. Another issue is that I have to become more organized and creative in order to
be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. In order to be able to
manage my career by myself I have to know all the opportunities and ways to go
ahead. Maybe I am going to need an advice from a career counselor.
6. Is there is anything you’ve discovered that might prompt you to consider other
career(s)? If so, what was your discovery and what careers are you now
considering?
I discovered that I can obtain much more opportunities than I thought before. Thus,
Holland codes showed me that among recommended careers for my type are fashion
retailor, actress, bartender, financial manager, lawyer/attorney, tax accountant,
website developer, economist and even ecologist.
VIII. Final Reflection:
Making my personal data-base helped me to determine my skills, abilities and personal qualities.
It helped me to discover my career opportunities and found out profession that will be
appropriate for me. However, I still need some more information because I am not sure which
profession match particular the major I chose. However, I was able to recover my strengths and
weaknesses and now I know what I have to improve in order to become a successful manager. I
also realized that there are the other career fields where I might gain a success.
