CEP EL101 0692 Professor Cantwell Jason Chester 3/24/09 Essay on Work interest Profile Summary Agree? Or Disagree? You’re born into a world that you have to grow to understand. Aside from what you learn and acquire it is up to you to develop yourself into somebody. I have struggled with this for a long time. Being biracial, being part of the working class, and being looked down upon by those that have more, it has always been a struggle to understand what rights I have, and if I am doing the right thing by wanting the same life that those who are more fortunate that I am have. I know now it’s my right. The same way it is to breathe and be alive. I have a right to an education, to be married, to live in this great nation and have the best life possible. I intend to do so, and to profess it to all, regardless of race, gender, or creed. I fully and wholeheartedly agree with my work interest profile summary. It describes me perfectly. I think the assessment test is a great idea. It gives people a clue of what attributes they have based on basic questions. The understanding of what you can be, with the understanding of who you are, is essential in a person finding a great career. I’m not sure yet how I can become what I am capable of being. I wish there was a place to tell me, “go to this school, learn this, and then you’ll have this career in no time.” That’s one thing I wish to contribute to society. Everyone is always talking about what career you should have, but no one is discussing the road you have to travel to get there. Maybe, it’s obvious. I know you have to go to school, but no one describes how to pay for school. Maybe you get financial aid; maybe you get a scholarship or rely on student loans, but do people understand the process? Are the people who know better really helping those have an idea of what to do and what takes place? I’ll be honest, I know nothing, but I have been fortunate to go and find the information as well as come into contact with those who want to help. In return, I have offered my knowledge to others, and want to be a proponent in promoting college to people regardless of age, gender, race, and creed. My work interest profile tied me together with social, and enterprise. I chose enterprise. It described enterprise as a person who prefers selling and promoting while influencing others being in a leadership position. I’m self-confident, talkative, and energetic. It also described me as loving to discuss politics, having power, and status. I am a humanitarian and will dedicate my life’s work to the benefit of others, and plan on doing anything in my will for others. I just believe although social is great, being in enterprise, that I could get paid well and be seen in a higher ranking office But overall I felt enterprise would put me in a more global market. It would allow me to help on a grander scale because I could be tied to big corporations as well as the government. The plans I have for the world are not original ideas, but what I see in society is that for many it’s difficult to do the obvious. I plan on doing the right thing; let’s pay labor around the world an honest wage that they can live off of, and let’s stop this madness with cutthroat businesses. I’m tired of seeing the foot soldiers who work hard through representing the company, and get paid poorly while never having the great benefits that the big shots at the top have. The elite live well and enjoy life while never knowing how hard the lower class laborers have it. I want to promote harmony the way that Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. did. It’s more important now than ever before that people band together and represent themselves as a whole because we are living in a time when decisions are being made and people who can’t speak up aren’t acknowledged.
