To whom it may concern,
Teaching is a noble profession. This is because, teachers are the ones who
give knowledge to our children so that they could become a better person in the
future. That is why I think it is a good idea to give students with education major
free tuition. Because then, students with economical problems background could
take teaching major as an option.
Sometimes, there are indeed students who are interested in being teachers.
However most of them do not have the money to afford the education needed to
qualify as a teacher. If this is the occasion, then those students would take parttime job in order to make up for the money. Having part-time jobs is one of the
reasons that most students do not do well in school, because they are busy with
school work and the job itself. For example, a friend of mine from Biology class
called Rosemary Estrada who has an education major has to take a part-time job
as a waitress, which clearly, has nothing to do with teaching. She needs to take
the job however, because she needs to use the money to pay for her tuition fees. If
she has a free tuition, she would not need to take any jobs and this will make her
more concentrated in her school works.
In addition, free tuition could also be an incentive for someone who thinks that
school is not an option, to take an education as a major. There are students who
come from a really complicated economical background, and when work is not
even an option, attending school is just like a dream that will never going to come
true. However, if those students are given free tuition to learn how to teach and if
possible, teach the subject that they love most, it would be a very attractive
proposal and could encourage them to attend college and become a teacher. For
example, I am eloquent in Chinese and I love Chinese culture. If I was given free
tuition to learn how to teach Chinese language and the culture, I would gladly
take that opportunity.
Teachers hold a really important role in our society, not only as someone who
teaches, but also someone who guides our children to be a better person in the
future. This is why we need more students to take education major, so that we
would have more better qualified teachers. I really hope you would consider my
points seriously and agree with me that giving free tuition will surely encourage
more students to be teachers. Thank you.
