PDA FINAL REPORT—JAMES E. FICKLE
I applied for a Professional Development Award for the Fall 2011 semester in
order to complete a manuscript for my history of the U.S. Forest Products
Laboratory. I was able to do that, and I am now working on revision and
polishing of the twelve chapters for final submission to the Forest History Society
at Duke University. The manuscript has gotten preliminary approval for
publication.
In addition, I worked on revision of my manuscript Green Gold: The Rise,
Decline, and Restoration Of Alabama’s Forest Products Industries. That
manuscript was approved for publication by the editorial board of the University
of Alabama Press on July 27, and it is now in production.
I appreciate the University’s support of my work.
