Sri Vittal Ramamurthy
Artist: Vidwan Vittal Ramamurthy is a leading and popular Carnatic Violinist who is both a soloist and an
accompanist. Sri Ramamurthy is a Grade 'A' artiste of All India Radio. Style: Sri Vittal Ramamurthy's rendering
of Carnatic Music is rich with creativity and innovative improvisation. His playing scores high on the melody
scale and is embellished with heart-warming sangatis. His accompanying style is to subtly blend with and
complement the main performer in the best traditions of the Lalgudi style. Sensitive accompaniment, harmony,
grace and maturity mark his widely acclaimed performances. Teacher: In his quest to spread the tradition of
Carnatic music, Sri Ramamurthy has disciples worldwide, teaches jazz musicians in Paris, France and runs
music schools in Chennai, India, and Swaralayam Arts Forum, Houston, USA. . Soloist and Accompanist: Sri
Vittal Ramamurthy has performed in 1,000+ concerts in 15 countries (all continents except Africa). He has
accompanied his guru Padmabhushan Lalgudi Sri G. Jayaraman in his vocal concerts, and violin duet and trio
concerts. Besides his solo concerts, he has accompanied vocal and instrumental stalwarts like Sudha
Ragunathan and Balamuralikrishna (both Vocal), Ramani (Flute), Kadri Gopalnath (Saxophone), and Ravi Kiran
(Chitra Veena). He has participated in the World Music Festival in 'Theatre de la Ville', Paris, and other
International Festivals in Singapore and Dubai. He has been featured regularly at the Paris Music Festival (in
France) for the past several years. .
Training and Awards: His Guru is the legend and violin maestro Padmabhushan Lalgudi Sri G. Jayaraman,
after initial training from Sri Hosahalli Venkatram and Smt T. Rukmini. Sri Ramamurthy has been bestowed with
the titles including Best Violinist (from prestigious Music Academy and Sri Krishna Gana Sabha of Chennai,
India), Yuva Kala Bharathi, Kalaimani and Swara Gyana Bharathi.
Smt. Padma Shankar
Artist: Has accompanied all leading stalwarts including N Ramani, N Ravikiran, TV Gopalakrishnan, Sanjay
Subramaniam and Bombay Jayashri and others. She has performed violin duet concerts in India and abroad
including the prestigious Music Festival in Paris, France. She performs regularly on TV and Radio.
Training: Had her initial training under late Sri SRR Sarma of Mumbai. She is presently undergoing advanced
training under the guidance of Lalgudi G Jayaraman
Awards: She has been awarded as Best Violinist from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha and Music Academy, Madras.
She has also received Sri Kalki Memorial Award by Shanmukananda Fine Arts, Bombay and Naada Oli from
Nada Inbam, Madras.
Sri Ganapathyraman
Sri Ganapathyraman is one of the finest mridangam artists of the younger generation. Born into a family of
musicians, his father, Sri Seathalapathi R. Balasubramaniam is a direct disciple of the legendary composer Sri
Papanasam Sivan. Ganapathyraman had his training in Mridangam from Srimushnam Sri Rajarao and
Kumbakonam Sri. Rajappa Iyer. He has accompanied great musicians including Lalgudi Sri. Jayaraman,
Palghat Sri K.V. Narayanaswamy, Madurai Sri. T.N. Seshagopalan, and Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna. He has
been bestowed with several awards which include awards from Krishna Gana Sabha and Music Academy,
Madras. Yuvakala Bharathi Sri Ganapathyraman has performed in all the major festivals in India, and has
toured USA, South Africa, Middle East and Sri Lanka, accompanying popular Carnatic musicians.
Sri Madipakkam Murali
A disciple of Kumbakonam Sri Rajappier, Sri Murali is one of the most sought after Ghatam Vidwan today. He
has accompanied all leading vocal and instrumental artists such as DK Pattammal, TN Seshagopalan, and
Lalgudi GJR Krishnan. He has performed regularly in India and abroad. He uses a unique fingering technique
to bring out the best of the instrument and himself. He has received the Best Ghatam Artiste award from
Krishna Gana Sabha. He toured Australia with the percussion ensemble of Karaikudi Mani playing with the
Australian Art Orchestra and the Opera House.
